MSFS 2024 is actually good

This is probably an unpopular opinion… but Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is actually good. Sure, the start was rough, and there are still plenty of bugs in the game, but it’s very playable. I’ve advanced in career mode and really like the feeling of progressing. It’s exactly what MSFS2020 was missing… actual purpose. I believe MSFS2024 is actually a good foundation to build further on, and after we receive a few updates we’ll quickly forget these couple of days.

This is the future guys. No one would believe you 10 years ago if you’d say there’d be a flight sim with the entire world in 4 times Full HD… and that you could play it from an Xbox… and that you didn’t had to download it. Now Microsoft is letting us together stream exabytes of data for our entertainment. Look what Flight Sim had become in 20 years. Do you remember when cockpits were 2D and you had to click little black buttons for different plane functions? Where will Microsoft Flight Simulator be in another 20 years? Most probably we’ll be able to actually visit our homes and see what it looks like in-game. Or even take a car and drive around… like we’re walking around the game right now.

In stead of acting entitled and expecting a sim this revolutionary to be flawless on launch day, be happy to be part of this historical moment. We’re advancing guys, all together. Microsoft and Asobo certainly learned from this launch, and with our feedback we’ll make this happen, together. Towards the future. Be kind. Without them our only chance of flying planes would be to actually become a pilot.

it’s probably too much future when on default low settings with a default airliner in a major airport you get more than 10gb vram used butchering the performance

I like how you can see other players walk around now. The rest will get better over time, i’m sure. But it’s quite frustrating that a plane doesn’t make any sound for example.

It’ll be good as soon as the airplanes have sounds, The Cessna Skyhawk doesn’t load up with the G1000 interior and broken electrical, the tutorials work properly and the drop down will go away after you bring it up.

And that’s just what I’ve found in a couple of hours of flying around.

I might buy it…in the future when/if it’s ready

Too soon! But I think I agree! Whisper it… The SIM is good. :joy: And will be great.

Known bug. This will get fixed in no time I am sure. There is a separate thread covering this now. Try deleting your cache which will force the planes to download again. Some of the plane downloads appear to have been corrupted with the server issues, ie the sound files didn’t properly install.

I agree. Got it working last night for the first time. I am blown away. Speaking as an experienced flight simmer also. It is the future.

It actually is! When youve got over the initial logging in and setting up hassles, there’s an amazing mix of really improved flight physics and more realistic skies.

Now I’m set up, I’m beginning to see what they’re getting at, and it’s good!

Not if you are a PMDG user…

It’s growing on me quickly! I am not able to fly yet as I don’t seem to be able to setup my Sidewinder 2 Joystick (recognized in the Sim but not configurable). But the City night lights are amazingly beautiful. My sceneries work in the Sim and the Sim is super smooth. The ground texture in daylight is ok, and right now, it seems like it’s better in MSFS 2020 than 2024 but this may be because of the server overload. The trees are also super green in northern Iran and not affected by seasons! It’s fine in Southern portion of the country. Hope this gets resolved. Also, seems like even the bushes are trees in a lot of places. Even Dubai looks green  I am sure these issues will get fixed soon either by Asobo or by appropriate mods.

Maybe wait for the PMDG updates for compatibility? I have plenty of their planes also. I’ll wait for their patches before transferring over. Plenty new planes to experience in meantime.

At the moment they are not sure if this will happen…

I see you likely have read their latest blog on 22st: ‘ 21NOV24] Status Update on PMDG’s MSFS2020 product compatibility with MSFS 2024.’

I would bet my house in likelihood they will find a way to get compatibility. They won’t want to miss out on the market.

Im not on your opinion, Asobos / MS isnt a small tiny company, and there were about 500 people to developed this “game” in german you say. " Schuster bleib bei deinen Leisten" ( Cobbler stick to your last). So for this, Asobo should develope on the last ms2020 and not a completely new interface, flightsimmers and not game players want a realistic flight, and it tooks 4 years for this on the last flightsimulator to get this aim… Why did Asobo create more complicated interfaces like the key bindings, camera bindings and so on…?

For this money, and a lot people here paid 200 Euros for a Game, that crashes very often when pressing some buttons or change the flight and other parts, who are not ready at the moment. But when is the game ready? in 4 years too??

" and we think it may be some weeks before we are able to evaluate, fix and release updates to the MSFS2020 product line that will allow them to run in MSFS2024, if we are able to do this at all."

Unusual for Randazzo to be the voice of doom. And when I say unusual, I mean par for the course.

Yup I saw that. This is Robert Randazzo though - king of drama. Just watch his next couple of blogs where I predict they will find some kind of ‘magic’ breakthrough.

Remember I just bet my house?
