MSFS 2024 is actually good

I agree - first night was a disaster not being able to even get in, but problems seemed to be solved for me yesterday. Had a great time playing around in career mode, performance is great (and that’s out of the box with no tweaking whatsoever!), and really enjoyed some of the Inibuilds default aircraft (who has ever seen that level of quality for default aircraft?). The new lighting engine, proper nigh lights, detail on the ground - blown away really.
Yes it’s a shame that addons don’t work yet as was promised, but from what I’ve seen I’m very excited.

The youtube influencers crowd have their own thread running.

I really hope it turns out for the best…but I’ll keep my money for now. Thanks.

It seems the days of PMDG being the only or even go to option for high quality passenger jets are long gone.

So far the bandwidth issues prevent a far assessment of the game. Noting that, it was released without enough bandwidth and server capacity. Hopefully MS/Asobo can solve the problem this week, so next week we can have a far comparison of MSFS2024 against MZFS2020/XP12 etc… I’ll save my current complaints for next week, if they still persist.

I also love many things about new Sim!
Career is very nice, graphics definetly better then 2020. And I absolutely love new opportunities of flight tablet (charts, flightplanning, check-lists) just inside the Sim. Two things I missed in 2020 - career and flight planning/charts without need of external services. Good work, MSFS team! Hope, situation with servers will stabilise (I had an ability to play yesterday and today, and overall experience was good)!

I agree.

Yeah, they really did a bad job with the launch. It is a disaster and a big shame what they did, but at least they will fix some stuff. I mean, the game loads about 1 minute from startup to flying on my Series S now.

It has great options to play. Career mode and photography are amazing add-ons.

The graphics look nice; the night lighting is stunning, so much better than 2020, which I hate to play back there. Love the colors now during seasons etc.

The flight plan is one of the best things we got. It will be a game-changer for me. It is super cool and fun to use and explore.

There is a lot of space for improvement, of course, but as soon as they fix the game, it will be amazing to play.

Controls could be old ones. But I guess we will get used to new ones.

I dont like this whole only streaming option. But we will see.

I have fixed Iran already.

Once it’s loaded, it’s a far superior (at least out of the box) flight simulator than 2020 was.

Physics and graphics are significantly better.

I’ve got absolutely no interest in buying 2024.
2020 is good enough.

still depending on the system. I have my benchmark run around JFK and i can tell you it was stutter free 60 at TLOD 400 with everything cranked up to ultra, in the MAX
No, im not trolling.
But i have a very beefy system, tbh

Is this the foliage you are talking about fixing, or the general political and socio economic situation over there?

I’m not convinced, compared to my system where I usually use FS2020 in 4K, the light of FS2024 seems filtered and overall I see a cartoony effect that is absent in 2020.

Also if you live in an area where the Internet connection doesn’t go above 45/48Mbps, you have no hope of having quality even if you have a 4090 GPU.

well yes, if you spare vram I guess it’all peaches and cream. Though if even on a 4070ti i have to set everything on low to be able to run an airliner there’s quite something not right, and vram usage it’s not dependant on server i guess.

On my very expensive hardware it runs very smooth. But how about lesser fast hardware? A Gpu with at least 16gb video mem is a must if you ask me.

Hi there. Are you in UK by any chance? Try a free vpn and log into North American servers and you will find your broadband bandwidth is plenty enough for a great experience. Also, regarding the lighting etc. I guess this is going to heavily depend on individual setups. I can only share my own experience with my OLED ultrawide, and I can honestly say the lighting is incredible and makes the sim look real. Way superior to 2020.

I would have an “average” PC build in 2024, 5600X & RTX 3070, 32GB memory, 500MB fibre and I am quite happy.

I used to play MSFS2020 in the “medium preset” and would get ~35 FPS.

Now in MSFS2024 I am still playing on medium but I am getting ~40fps in busy airports and close to 70FPS when flying! I am very happy, and I was able to load the game in ~5 minutes yesterday.
