MSFS 2024 is Not Ready For Release

Should of just called it FS limitless or evolution or something.

It should’ve been called Beta.

But I didn’t ask you to pay for my offering.

I am not pointing out the obvious; I am offering a possible reason for the premature release.

There are many possible reasons. The one you offered seems obvious, and many posts since November 19 concur.

MSFS 2024 Alpha edition

Yes absolutely. FS 2025 would have been a far better choice.

Limited beta testing Nov 19th, release at end of Jan 2025.

By Jan 2025 the worst of the problems will have gone.

The main issues are compatibility issues with 3rd party addons and hardware.

The vanilla sim, while buggy is in similar shape to 2020 when it released.

Yeah, a few months in beta to iron out some bugs and especially to give 3rd party devs the time they needed to make their work compatible would have given some of the time needed to release a more finished and fully functional sim.

That is not the point he is making. The point being made is they should given the development another 6 to 8 months and released it in 2025.

I was saying this from the very beginning, way before we knew it would be so buggy and cursed. Firstly, 2025 just feels like a better, more “well-rounded” number, it just feels nicer for some weird reason. It’s more suited than 2024 to be part of a title IMO.

Secondly, why would you give it a name that sounds outdated 5-6 weeks after launch??
Didnt FIFA and other sports games always come out with names that were “one year early” as well, eg Fifa 99 came out in 98?

Someone just really didn’t think this through. Like most of the sim, unfortunately.

Reading this today should speak volumes about the state of 2024 for inibuilds to reevaluate making the A350 exclusive to 2024. Hopeful other devs will follow.

Indeed, when half of your customers still stay with FS2020. Although the rate and speed Inibuilds brings planes does not sit well with me either. Of course I don’t know how big their dev team is but it seems a little fast to bring quality.

If the A350 does come to 2020 it will be the best decision Inibuilds ever made. I’ve spent years studying, flying on and spotting on the 350 as just love everything about it. New 2024 with 350 was Dream come true but that is now a nightmare with state of 2024. I’ve argued fairly on discord that release for both sims wasn’t unreasonable considering state of 2024. It’s more work but ultimately I think a lot ppl will park 2024 until it’s sorted maybe years. ATM 2020 is only creditable and useable product from MS until they sort current mess

The simulator is in such a bad shape that the worst issues are all over the place, and there’s a high chance that many will remain and not be fixed ever. There were long standing bugs in 2020 that never got addressed, but nothing of the magnitude we have here. The basic operation of the sim is broken (especially on Xbox), most default aircraft, there’s no add-on support, none of the Career mode missions work as intended, and there are hundreds if not thousands of small but annoying gameplay and functional issues with every aircraft.

One month has passed since release and this thread is still as valid as ever. It is an unacceptable state that basically nothing works properly.

So no, nothing will be fixed by January. We’ll have to wait for Sim Update 1 to even have a chance of anything to change for the better, and that will arrive in “Q1” which can be as late as March or April if there’s a delay (there usually is).

Also, there have been many occasions in the past where bugs thought to be long fixed returned, so do the math of how many bugs we have now and in what rate will they be fixed then potentially reintroduced after a few Sim Updates.

This is going to be a very, very long journey for us and all developers involved, and even that if there’s enough revenue for Microsoft to not pull the plug. I don’t expect a radical improvement for at least a year. Maybe this time in 2025 we’ll look at it and say yes, this now feels as it works as it should. If ever.

I wondered if developers would start making products for 2020 again.

Flight Simulator in general is pushing me onto other genres. A month ago I was giving Asobo the benefit of the doubt, going to bat for their decisions - but that was before release. I spent more time enjoying the idea of 2024 before its release than I did enjoying the actual gameplay when it did release. Even NEOFLY is broken because of 2024 (helipads and new airports not registering), so we can’t even get a decent alternative career mode for now.

Today, It’s nice to play games that work, relatively speaking. In the time it takes FS2024 to boot, I could be 4 mins deep into a 20km rally stage in WRC. Assetto Corsa EVO is going 1600km2 LIDAR open world in 2025, which will probably put any other open-world environment to shame.

The problems of this release are the pressure of releasing it on time and therefore no time to do a propper Alpha/beta test.
All the essential bugs where not adressed before the release, but are all still there.
I agree with you, that the sim will not work propper whitin a short time and probably not whit a few updates or patches.

A very thoughtful and accurate analysis.
I know there are some people who compare the state of the simulator now to the early state of 2024- but the complication now is that there is a sim in pretty good state to fall back on, my bet is that lots of people are doing exactly that - or as in my case (XSX) niot purchasing at all - in which case it is not an understatement to say that the future of MSFS2024 may already be unrecoverable for MS/Asobo.
It’s also interesting to note that the developers’ response to the disaster - some of which was brought on by cramming way too many new features , content and changes into the project scope is to “reward” the user with 4 new planes - showing a complete lack of understanding of the issues that have caused this epic failure.

This is indeed one of the main reasons it’s so bad. I posted about this recently. It’s just quantity over quality and that’s not the way to do things. Start slow and steady and build that solid foundation that you can add to along the way. 4 more under cut Famous flyer standard aircraft that generally I have little interest in shows a total disregard for the situation as you quite rightly said. If they wanted to make a genuine we are sorry token how about a US$40 Marketplace voucher so at least each customer can chose something that may have a chance of bringing a smile to their face. Just a thought Microsoft.

Really though all we want is a stable, functioning and relatively bug free sim which is what we paid for without having to wait 4 years and then have this all over again in 2028.

I wonder if those gifted aircraft will all be bug-free?
