And still, six months after this press release, and nearly eighteen months after launch, MSFS2024 is not delivering even a prototype shared cockpit. It was part of the launch campaign promises wasn’t it?
To be fair, they’re quite often not even rendering the aircraft you’re flying in multiplayer, even if it’s one of the default aircraft.
Tricky business getting the detail right it seems
Nope, it was never referenced as something to expect at launch. All the was mentioned pre-release was that they had a very crude implementation in a prototype phase internally.
Right, so it was on the table as part of the future plans prior to launch, and headlined again in June 2025.
I would never say it was “headlined” - in fact, it has ONLY been mentioned when they are specifically asked about it. No timeline has ever been given, only implications that it’s very complex and not close to being ready.
“Future plans prior to launch” could easily be 3-4 years out. They could also never arrive, as plans are just that - plans.
Look at the image at the beginning of this post. Across the top it says:

I bought 2024 on the promise of Shared Cockpit.
Now i never expected it at launch nor did they say it would launch with it. But here we are in 2026 and i can’t find mentions of it anymore?

Is this going to be beyond their capabilities and will it get shelved? IMO probably yes.
It’s incredibly easy for most games to implement walking around and an avatar yet it’s very basic and doesn’t work well in MSFS so i have low expectations.
