MSFS 2024 spawns default passenger stairs despite GSX handling boarding/deboarding

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue in MSFS 2024 where default MSFS passenger stairs are almost always spawned during boarding or deboarding, even though GSX is installed and fully handling ground services.

Some details:

  • The stairs that appear are not GSX stairs, but clearly MSFS default airport services (confirmed in the GSX forum).
  • This happens regardless of whether I’m parked at a jetway gate or a remote stand.
  • In some cases, the stairs even drive to the wrong side of the aircraft.
  • GSX itself works correctly (boarding, deboarding, loaders, catering, etc.).
  • I have disabled all MSFS default airport services in the simulator settings, but the stairs still appear.
  • GSX sometimes reports messages like “Jetway not close enough” while MSFS spawns its own stairs anyway.

This behavior breaks immersion and conflicts visually with GSX operations.

My question:
Is there any known way to completely prevent MSFS 2024 from spawning default passenger stairs, or is this a current limitation or bug in the sim?
Has anyone else experienced this and found a workaround?

Thanks a lot for any help or insights.

Stefan

Personal Comments and Observations

Just out of curiosity, what does GSX have to say about this?

"You are assuming GSX is doing that, because that stair “looks like GSX”, but it’s not. What you see there is a default ground vehicle handled by MSFS, which HAPPENS to look like GSX, because GSX replaced its visual model, but it’s still an MSFS own ground vehicle handled by MSFS, that also explains why the operator is not the one selected by GSX, because that stair there is NOT called by GSX.

The bug in the sim here might just be it decided to send a stair on a service door for no reason, same as when it docks a jetway on a rear door or a service door, if you parked in a position that would make those doors solvable".

I wonder if they actually raised this with Asobo. To me, they’re making a factual statement in that “it looks like ours, but the sim is sending a default one.” Ok, but for what reason? One of my other hats is working for an MSFS Dev Partner. That would be the first question I would raise on DevSupport. Assuming that’s verbatim GSX, the response is a bit non-committal but I have no horse in this race. It’s just interesting to see how studios operate differently.

I never had any issues with GSX and or default Airport Service.

Because I have disabled anything regarding that, I ask myself why is there a stairs service approaching my plane?

I never saw this before but since SU4 Beta and Full Release.

Hello Stefan,

I was experiencing the same issue and while searching online for a resolution, I came across your post.

I think I may have found a solution to this issue as after changing the following setting, the unwanted stray stairs are no longer spawning.

You haven’t mentioned in your post if you’re using FS2CREW FO for the Fenix A320 or even if the aircraft in your picture is the Fenix A320.

However toggling OFF all “PRE-FLIGHT GROUND SERVICES” checkboxes in the FS2CREW settings dialog seems to have resolved this issue for me. Also make sure the “GSX PRO INTEGRATION” checkbox is toggled OFF (although this was already OFF when I started encountering this issue after SU4 was released).

Let me know if this resolves the issue for you.

Regards,

Sid

Thank you so much for your answer! I will test it later and will get back. I am using FS2 Crew as well.

Did it work ?

I had no time so far to test it. But i will report back for sure!

I have the same problem … but I dont have fs2vrew :frowning:

i have the same problem. despite all what i have done above. i had disable all fs2crew ground service. i have disable al the vehicles in the msfs 2024 settings. i allso have a program from flightsim.to that remove all ground vehicles in the airport that won’t be removed bij msfs. but it is still spawning. it takes a bit of the fun out of it.

I have done one flight and havent seen the stairs yet. I will try more flights to see if it has fixed it.

i have done all above. but still it spawns. it only spawn when i arrive at an airport

I had the same but found out I had a 2020 profile and after I changed that it worked fine (for me).

What do you mean by 2020 profile?

I also have this problem, that sometimes after landing a random stair arrives at my aircraft and connects through the jetway to L1 door. Sometimes I also do get a random stair to R1 door, also only after landing.

This is super annoying, how to stop this?

He is talking about the GSX profile. If you use a MSFS2020 profile this may cause the issue. However for some airports there are sill MSFS2020 profiles to download, they havent been updated.

I dont know if that is true…

Okay, that should not be the case for me. I mostly use the custom ones that come with the scenery, not loading any extra gsx profiles.
