Is it possible to upgrade the Standard Edition of msfs-2024? Am I correct in that I must purchase the other versions entirely?
*Q: Can I upgrade editions?
A: Yes it is possible to purchase Upgrade bundles from the in-game Marketplace, but the most cost-efficient way to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator is to buy the edition you are interested in. If you purchase an upgrade from the Marketplace, it is more advantageous to purchase the Premium Deluxe Upgrade.”
So can i not upgrade the version i own to a better one till the store comes out? Iv been trying to upgrade for a week but the store is still closed. And steam will only let me buy the whole game all over again with the package i want just to upgrade and im not doing that.
Hello,
I went through the trouble of contacting Microsoft and Steam support and this is what I got. Microsoft support says that I will be able to get any upgrades from the in-game Marketplace when it launches approximately on early 2025 and that I could try to resolve this issue by requesting a refund and buying again from Steam. (Which I can’t because I have a bout 100 hours play time).
However I contacted Steam support about the pricing because like you I’m not willing to just give away 80€ for nothing and this is what they said :
"I understand you’d like to upgrade your purchase to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Premium Deluxe Edition.
However, Steam does not offer any upgrade options. If you already own the base game and wish to upgrade, please reach again out to the publisher’s support team for more assistance as they may be able to help you in upgrading the game, if the option is available.
Also, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Premium Deluxe Edition is a single-license bundle. You will not be able to purchase this bundle since you already have some of the items included in it. It will also not adjust based on what you already have. It’s an all-or-nothing type of bundle. "
In my mind I thought “Then just don’t make it a single-license bundle and treat it like you do with DLCs on the rest for the platform” but I came to peace that this is what they had in mind I guess. I honestly think I’ve tried way harder than I should have when Support just turns to apologies and inabilities to fix the pricing so take it from a guy that spent his time for nothing and just wait till early 2025 to get your upgrades. The game still has lots of things to take care of and launching the Marketplace this early on could do more harm than good due to major issues still marking the game as “Mixed”. (Talking about Steam Reviews since that’s the platform I’m currently using.) So yeah, enjoy what you have now and just be patient I guess, unless you are eligible for a refund.
Well this sucks
