ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Updated to Sim Update 3 - Release 1.5.27.0 – setup a flight using SimBrief to fly from KDAL → KCLT, but after takeoff, could not activate Autopilot NAV mode or have it respond to when I activate a particular leg or to a specific navigation waypoint that is in my flight plan. I have tried several flights now since the update earlier today, even restarting the MSFS 2024, but still cannot get Autopilot NAV to engage with the flight plan. AP Heading works, but not NAV mode. Since AP NAV mode is not working, I never got far enough into my 3-hour flight to see if AP APR mode works when trying to land the Vision Jet.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
I have tried several flights in the Vision Jet (MSFS 2024 version SU3), and I can replicate this issue each time.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
-
Setup flight with SimBrief
-
Import SimBrief flight plan
-
Take off in Vision Jet
-
Shortly after takeoff, activate Autopilot, and activate NAV mode. However, NAV button does not illuminate and Autopilot NAV mode does not activate. Tried to select a different leg or direct-to waypoint activation in the flight plan, but Autopilot NAV mode never activates.
You have to intercept the leg using HDG mode and be within two dots of the DTK per the CDI. Also, intercepting while you’re closer to the end of the leg you’re trying to intercept may result in an overshoot and GPS mode (NAV) not arming and taking over.
This is RL G3000 behavior.

I did that on the second attempt flight, and that did not work. NAV mode would never arm/enable.
I have similar Problems with Cessna Corvalis. Heading mode works, Nav mode ist loaded and become Green, when i fly near to the magenta line (the one shown in the avionik, Not in the EFB). But the AP does not change the direction. He fly across the Line doing nothing.
At the Weekend, before the Update, everything worked good.
Can you upload a video. Interested to see exactly what’s going on here.

Hi @bobomonkey69
Sorry you’re having issues. I tried to replicate the issue, and couldn’t get the same results you got.
I flew IFR in the Vision Jet from KSAR to KSTL, using “direct” for the departure (and using HDG mode to maintain the runway heading until cleared by ATC to turn). Then turned using HDG mode to intercept the GPS nav course, I armed NAV and continued to fly to the magenta GPS line on the map, and when near it, the Garmin changed to NAV mode and turned onto the GPS line as expected. Went ahead and flew the ILS to 30L at KSTL using the Garmin APR mode and it all worked well.
Are you using a key bind or button on a peripheral to activate NAV mode or clicking on the button? If you’re using a key bind or button, you might double check them and reset them to make sure the key/button is working right and not conflicted after the update. I also assume you’re seeing the magenta GPS line on the map on the MFD and seeing the whole flight plan on the MFD. I’d also make sure the approach you’ve set up doesn’t include “vectors” as the transition point for the approach.
You might also try the flight will ALL add-on’s/additional programs running and see if that fixes the issue.
Those are all the things that come to mind right off the top of my head.
Again, sorry you’re having the issue.
Regards
I’ve added a few screenshots to hopefully clarify what I’m saying I did!
Setup just before T/O
Guiding outbound after T/O using HDG mode
Turning toward the GPS course using the HDG mode, with the NAV mode armed. (I know that’s part of what you said wasn’t happening with your flight)
NAV mode has taken over automatically, and turning toward the course.
I’m not certain what the issue was after SU3 was installed, and I attempted to fly my flight … and immediately could not engage NAV mode on the autopilot. Even after restarting FS2024, I ran into the same issue. I now CANNOT reproduce this issue, as I have been successfully flying the Vision Jet with no issues with respect to the NAV mode AP issue that I reported. At this time, this issue can be closed.
