Marketing for 2024 says you can walk anywhere like a F.P.S. I wonder how walking will be with the floating grass say (assuming it still exists).
i am lost to understand how this puts you at a competitive disadvantage in a sim that is not competitive at all. Would you rather they never upgrade the sim with all the new tech since 2020? How long did you really expect your current pc to be current tech???
the âmain groupâ will certainly be moving on to 2024. Youâre welcome to join, itâs your choice. Nothing more and nothing less.
does anybody know anything about the blackshark buildings situation in 2024?
there hasnât been a peep about that
and the blackshark logo was not among the partners announced in vegas
i hope they wont leave them as they are
This might have been a typo⊠? MSFS isnât mentioned in the video.
But maybe maybe itâs already out âa few placesâ⊠who knows
very clearly a typo.
I remember the first few world updates such as UK, we got new - specific to that region - blackshark generated buildings. Those updates stopped pretty quickly and I donât think weâve had any procedural buildings updates for a long while now. Will we be surprised to see blackshark still being a partner in 2024?
im as hyped as anyone for 2024⊠but the silence about blackshark is a bit worrying to me
not worrying at all. If you got to Blacksharks website, they have Microsoft listed as a partner, as well as talking about the use of their tech in Flight Sim(s). Not sure why it would be worth making a big deal when it is pretty much a given. Too much energy being put into the details at this point when there is very little info that has been released.
Was Microsoft this secretive about Flight Simulator 2020 prior to release? Also, will there be some sort of open testing for 2024?
W.r.t. open testing for 2024, this question may be answered during the Developer Livestream on September 25th. I seem to recall that Jorg mentioned in one of the Dev Steams (or was it at FSExpo?) that there was going to be some type of server stress testing, but my memory could be faulty so please donât hold me to that!
I feel like they were pretty tight-lipped in public but they did have a large alpha testing program so there was a lot more buzz because some people actually had it in their hands (but couldnât talk about it because of the NDA).
(Alas I wasnât in the alpha, boo. ;))
Thatâs pretty much what Jorg and Seb said. He said, somewhat offhand, that they had something like thirty services streaming in 2024 vice seven for 2020.
Regards
The initial announcement for the current version was just as surprising as 2024âs, seemingly out of nowhere, but they are being way more secretive this time around with 2024. They had a detailed âfeature discoveryâ video series starting a year before launch of the current version, and an alpha/beta program that the general public was participating in months in advance.
Yeah I believe he said he wants to do it a few weeks before launch.
To be honest, Iâve never understood why theyâre so secretive about it and why they donât want to show much before release. I understand it with airport sceneries, airplanes etc. but this isnât like some competition would say âcome on, weâre gonna beat them to it and will develop and release our own simulator before themâ.
My assumption is - they are being secretive to avoid all the drama that comes with being very open. So far among all the sim genres, they have been most open and even on this forum, there are entire threads where they get taken down. People appreciate constructive criticism but in this day and age of social media things go down south very fast.
It may be an attempt to steer clear of it as much as possible - just my thoughts.
Basically this (IMO). They need to take care about what they say, unless they are 100% sure, they will just keep things private.
Sadly this is true. Every dev that tries being open eventually gets bitten by what appears to be a very vocal and totally unreasonable minority.
Fenix had this issue with their V2B2 upgrade where they tried being open but then hit unexpected obstacles and got panned for it over a period of months. Now theyâve also joined the ranks of developers that say as little as they can until they have something almost ready to ship, which seems to be the bulk of major developers now as it seems the only way to keep these people from harassing development teams. (And I do mean harass, Fenix actually received threats to their team.)
The new sim is still 2 months away, we already know the big picture story, I think itâs very sane for MS to avoid discussing details, thereâs surely going to be some things that ultimately miss the release cycle and have to be delayed.
I agree. Tell me what flight simulator (besides X-Plane) that is out there since Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. There isnât one because of the complicity that users want out of it. No other gaming company is going to touch that but Microsoft will Microsoft I guessâŠ
