In MSFS, the ATC abandons you if you don’t answer them after a few tries. In real aviation, what does the ATC do between the time they lose contact and send up the fighter jets?
They’ll keep trying to make contact (probably on different frequencies).

If you squawk 7600 and continue via your filed flight plan they will most likely not even send you ‘escort’ aircraft.
