MSFS Cannonball Run Challenge (KJFK to KLAX in a GA plane for charity) [Prize from Microsoft]

Its not for “more tech saavy people” there’s a megathread on aircraft perf mods in this forum, and all you gotta do is download them

Yeah but I allowed everything…it literally wont open, i double click it. nothing.

It doesn’t have any UI if you have logged in. It will appear in your minimized system tray next to the clock.

OH, ok that makes me feel dumb now lol

You can open your task manager, and check if you see it running in the process list as seen above.
Try killing it from there and reopening.
Update: If that doesn’t work try uninstalling SimAir and downloading a new version of the client from the website and re-installing.

That worked! Thanks!

I noticed a small number of people have registered twice. I will delete your older registration and only use the most recent time stamped one.

Were all of these doubles because of change in aircraft??
I know I am probably going to change my aircraft after some test flights but figured that didn’t require a new registration.

We don’t have to use automatic flight planning tools. In fact, those of us who are pilots IRL were taught the more interesting way of calculating by hand all the cross country flights. These aren’t jets that fly above the clouds and use routes as the crow flies. It’s a fun and challenging competition and planning a route that takes into account the freezing temperatures and the altitudes that are not friendly for single engine planes just makes sense. We can fly any way we wish and the main goal is to have fun with it and the secondary goal is to finish, not to win. The satisfaction of planning the fly, then flying the plan from weather to fuel to distance and endurance. Planning to never run out of gas or get near the reserves. That’s the fun of it all. No automatic planners for the low and slow.

It would be pretty sick to create a leaderboard app using SimAir’s events. So at any point everyone can see in a tabular view whose leading.

or just look at the main map the day of

Does the main map show all the people flying simultaneously?

Update: Ah just noticed it does cool

Good because we won’t see everyone in MSFS itself (at least near JFK), there is a 50-visible-planes limit I think ?

In the first 15-20 mins it’s going to be a big cluster. But we will eventually spread out, and should be able to see everyone’s position after zooming in a bit. I’m pretty impressed at the quality of the zoom.

Probably right after all our pc’s crash due to multiplayer

Not necessarily. I mean, they might crash for many other reasons than multiplayer.

Haha true! I’m just talking about myself, I might crash since my pc sounds like a rolls Royce RB211 when I click on multiplayer

Anyone else taking a southern/central route? I had a group of friends I was gonna fly this GENERAL route with. But they all backed out by now…

These are just random airports to show my route. NOT necessarily the airports I’ll be stopping at…lol
But figured I’d see what people’s plans are for north or south routes. Could be a lonely 20ish hours depending how spread out we end up.

And if anyone is considering not doing this race, whether it’s not having someone to fly it with or lack of knowledge of flight planning, or any other reason, please please feel free to tag along with me so we can keep each other company on this long journey. DM me and I’ll send you the finished flight plan.

And just wanna say again a HUGE thank you to everyone’s input and advice through this forum. I have learned so much in such a short time, that would probably have taken years to put myself through, preparing for this UNREAL event.

I still haven’t come up with a FP or picked a plane yet but I can tell you most the planes can go farther than those hops I believe so maybe space them out more…that’s just my 2 cents
