MSFS constantly not responding

Brief description of the issue: While playing MSFS the program constantly goes to not responding when viewed in the PC task manager tab. it will freeze for a few minutes at a time and then go back to normal then freeze and repeat. I have tried it without community addons and it still happens.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered: N/A

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered: Launch MSFS and no matter what you are doing it will not respond then go back to normal and repeat.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up of relevant: I7-9700k, GTX 1660 super, 48 Gb ram, Asus z390 motherboard, MSFS had issues when installed on an SSD and Hard drive.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue: Current Build 12/11/2021

I had similar issues. I tried to reinstall the game, Microsoft Visual Studio redistribution, and even Windows system. Unfortunately, no solution worked for me.

It eventually turned out that it was the Nvidia in-game overlay that conflicted with the MSFS 2020 software. After I turned the in-game overlay off, it works pretty well for my without any issues. Hope it might help you if you are still experiencing the problem.
