MSFS crashes when 2nd GPU is used

Good Day, Newbie here. I run a RTX 3060Ti that drives a triple screen set up, and works great. I also have a second Rtx 2060 in the PC that I would like to run for maps ATC etc. However, when ever I plug monitor 4 & 5 into the 2060 and launch MSFS 2020 and click the "Ready to Fly " button I get the following message. " Your graphics device has encountered a problem and the application will quit. This may be due to graphics card overclocking, overheating or to a driver fault. I am running Windows 10, with a i7 10700 k CPU with 32 G DDR4 ram. BTW This only happens while starting to fly in 2020. There is no problem displaying other applications on these monitos running on the 2060. Thank you for any advise or info on this subject. Kevin

The game can only use one GPU at a time. You will only get the benefit of two GPUs if they they are the exact same kind and i don’t even think the game is set up for SLI. At any rate, it’s not gonna work with a 2060 and a 3060ti running. I hope/think i’m explaining that right.

Are you using the Nvidia Surround or whatever or setting up triple monitors with the game settings? I’m willing to bet if the former, there is serious confusion on Nvidias end somewhere and it’s causing the crash.

Also, theres issues with later nvidia drivers and DX12. Rolling back and going to DX11 should fix the “grahics overheating” message.

Thanks for your reply, i am using the in game settings for triple screen. I have heard about the Dx 12 issue. Maybe i will read up on hiw to roll back to dx11 and try that. Thanks again for the info.

What you’re doing should work and it should work in DX12. I have a similar configuration and I have no issues. As @Portalearth420 mentioned, it’s quite likely to be a driver problem. I would roll back (or forward) to a known good driver version (I’m still on 531.29, and it works fine for me).

There should be no need to go to DX11, but no harm in trying it if you’re not using sim pop-outs (G1000 etc), but if you are, that will affect your performance.

DX selection is located in General Options - Graphics.

Thanks for the info, I will try the roll back.
