Hello,
I don’t use these forums very often so I hope I am posting this in the correct place, apologies if not.
Just up until yesterday, my Microsoft Flight Simulator worked completely fine and dandy, no issues. Today I sat down in front of my PC, and when I tried to launch MSFS, it would show a black screen for about 2 seconds, then crash to desktop. I thought maybe it had to do with my outdated graphics driver, so I updated my graphics driver. No luck. I thought maybe my MSFS files are corrupted, so I verified the file integrity. Still crashed to desktop. As a last resort, I tried updating my windows to the most recent version. Still no luck.
I’ve tried every trick I have up my sleeve, and for some reason MSFS just won’t launch for more than 4 seconds without crashing. Someone please help, I’m completely out of ideas now and I don’t know what to do.
Same problem here, I reinstalled and it temporarily solved, now the problem is back. Have you managed to fix it?
Nope, still won’t work. Haven’t been able to fly for a few days now. I’ll keep you posted if I find something
Trying everything here, just now I completely reinstalled the GPU driver using the DDU, without success. I’ve had this problem for 3 days now, if I find something I’ll come back here.
Just for comparison purposes, what’s your setup?
Mine:
RTX 2070
i5 10400F
24gb RAM
MSFS on NVMe
Windows 11 latest version
Was working last night for me. Tried twice today and CTD while loading. Gets about 2/3rds the way then right to desktop. Nothing has changed with sim. Makes me believe it is server side related.
Event log is showing ntdll.dll related.
Have ran the usual dism commands and all are ok.
I have just updated msfs after not using it for some time with the update that includes gliders and helecopters. When running the screen goes black, it sometimes recovers for a short time and then goes black again. Basically it is unusable. I have tried running it in admin mode but that did not help.
I saw some people solving this problem by uninstalling Razer Cortex, if any of you have it installed, it may be a solution, it’s not my case.
Thank you but I do not have that installed. Maybe I wait for the next update to see if that improves it.
I just checked my log, it says the module “D3D12Core.dll” failed. I don’t even use DX12, I don’t know exactly what it could be.
Just finished running…
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
The last one reclaimed (4) packages and store cleanup recommended was: Yes
All others finished successfully. Going to reboot PC again and retry the sim. Rebooted PC and internet already once and was not able to get sim to load. The sim was working just last night beautifully. Have made no changes to it since then.
Getting weirder now…
Just rebooted PC and started the sim it’s now giving me the update available screen. LOL! I’m already on the latest version 1.29.28.0
I checked the Event Viewer several times and it always accuses the same problem. Do you all appear the same thing? When trying to open MSFS, after the crash it appears.
Event Viewer > Windows Log > Application
someone in the msfs discord suggested that too, but I don’t have that program installed on my PC so I’m not sure what it could be. It appears that a number of other people have the same issue too, but I’ve been back and forth with MSFS support for the past few days trying to get it resolved. I’ll keep you posted if I find anything.
Has anyone found a solution yet?
Well, I solved it but maybe it’s not the same problem for you. My simulator was on my NVME SSD, I found out that it was malfunctioning, it ended up not working, even accusing “healthy” in CrystalDiskInfo. After buying a new one and formatting my computer, the problem was solved.
I have the same issue, no fix yet, microsoft emailed me the generic response, but I’ve tried all of those “solutions” and nothing has worked yet. Honestly, just gonna have to get a new drive probably the only thing that would work.
