When creating an IFR flight plan in the world menu, MSFS designates a departure runway and SID - are these selected by MSFS after considering weather and winds? Or are they just random? Should I create my own departure instead?
I use Simbrief to to get active runways and then plan my SID/STAR around that. Most SID/STARS usually will work with multiple runways.
Just a quick, small sample of airports using live time/weather, each airport I selected for departure (10 airports around the U.S.), the sim correctly picked the right runway for departure based on the current winds shown there except one. That one may also have been correct, since the wind only showed 1kt, so that airport may have a desired runway for winds less than “x amount of kts”, which is a normal thing at many places.
