MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager (with Touch Panel Support)

HAHA I can’t tell you the times I’ve mucked with windows monitors and screwed up the displays for both MSFS and XP!!

Most likely you’ll have to adjust each aircraft again, I’ve never had luck trying to get the monitors back to where they where once I messed them up. Doing for over 20 AC takes some time in each sim…

Lesson I learned, don’t muck with monitors in Windows once they are setup!

Hi Gleneagle,

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is easy way to do this in Windows without readjusting your panels.

I just posted a detail message using Powerscript to adjust all your panels data at the same time (move all panels data by x pixels) but suddenly realized it probably will not work in your case so I had just recalled the post. Since I assume you only accidentally move one of your monitor and my app cannot tell which panel is on which monitor, there is no easy way to adjust panel coordinates for those specific panels and my Powerscript code will not work. Sadly, I believe you’ll have to manually change the affected panels one at a time :frowning:

ok, thanks for the replies anyway

Hey there. Been working great howveee for some reason the app sometimes doesn’t “see” or recognize the livery model and therefore the automation doesn’t work. I have to manually go in and hit start pop outs. What gives? Other than that working fantastic.

I get this as sometimes as well but I’m not sure if it’s not recognising the livery correctly or something else in the process. I find not touching the mouse during this period has helped.

Hi All,

Version 3.4.2 has been released. Two major new features in this release are:

  1. Profile binding no longer binds to a livery but instead binds to an aircraft. You no longer need to add profile binding when switching to new livery. This has been an ask for a while and I finally get around to implement it.

  2. Added new keyboard shortcuts to move and resize panels. It makes configuring panel’s size and position more intuitive and more user friendly.

Please see the release notes for additional features and fixes in this new version.

As always, if you encounter any issue with this release, please do not hesitate to report it and I’ll do my best to provide hotfix to resolve any urgent issues.

Happy Flying,
Stanley

Hi Demariners,

With the new 3.4.2 release, I’ve changed how auto pop out binding works. It now binds to an aircraft instead of livery and hopefully it will resolve your issue and make automation more seamless.

Awesome! I’ll give it a try this afternoon.

Thanks. That first feature was certainly needed. This App just keeps getting better. Great work.

Seems to be working real well.

I’m curious if maybe you could add something where it won’t do the pop out if you are not on the FS screen? I have sometimes forgot it it going to automatically pop out and I am on another screen and my mouse goes crazy. Maybe make it an optional selection?

Also, can you check out the G300 panels. Specifically the TBM. For some reason I can not get the title bar to go away. Also, not sure this in intentional but can not use touch if on full screen?

Thanks!

Currently auto pop out executes as soon as Pop Out Panel Manager receives a SimConnect signal when a flight is started and cockpit view is first loaded. This signal usually happens about a second before ready to fly button appears. I’m not sure if I can intercept MSFS game focus change to another app in Windows to stop auto pop out from executing. In any case, I’ll look into it and see what I can do. The only way to do what you need is to disable auto pop out or unbind the aircraft from profile and manually execute pop out when you’re in MSFS game window.

Also, not sure this in intentional but can not use touch if on full screen?

I was able to run some test and touch should work on panels that were specified with Touch Enabled. I only tested with KingAir PFD/MFD and PMS GTN750 and was not able to reproduce your issue. Btw, which aircraft and panel you ran into touch issue with full screen? I can do an investigation.

can you check out the G300 panels. Specifically the TBM. For some reason I can not get the title bar to go away.

As for TBM 300, I’m not able to replicate your issue about hiding title bar. Is this what you’re refereeing to?

But if you’re talking an issue about configuring TBM pop out with title bar hidden first, you may trigger a known MSFS issue in my release notes:

  • When changing the width or height of a pop up that has Hide Title Bar enable, it will sometime break the Hide Title Bar setting and the only way to fix this is to re-pop out the panel. Currently, this is a bug in MSFS in how it handles the sizing and rendering of pop outs window. Certain aircraft has this issue worse than others (for example, A320 triggers this issue immediately).

Are anyone flying PMDG 737 getting the following issue when popping out captain’s PFD then ND using my app in SU10 beta 1.27.16? Duplicate PFD gets pop out, which should be impossible, instead of PFD and ND. I can trigger this issue every time when using Pop Out Manager. If I reverse pop out panel sequence in Pop Out Manager, everything is fine. I can replicate this issue by popping out these panels manually, too. Weird!

I have a similar problem with the 737 since the last update. after pop out of PFD/ND on the same monitor, the ND just stays empy in the popout. i am still on SU9.

Nope, just used pop out manager and it worked perfectly for me on 737.

That’s so weird, maybe my 737 installation or MSFS installation got corrupted somehow. I’ll wait for final SU10 release before attempting to reinstall. If you encounter this issue and Pop Out Manager is stopping you from popping out 737 panels correctly, there is a workaround but you will need to update userprofiledata.json file in your “Documents\MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager” folder directly. It is a little bit technical. Please make a backup copy of the file before attempting to update this file or you may lose all your profile configurations if this file gets corrupted.

  • Find the json section for your 737 aircraft by searching for “ProfileName”
  • In this section, you’ll see elements “PanelSourceCoordinates” and “PanelConfigs”
  • In there, your will further see “PanelIndex” with value of 1, 2, 3… etc
  • Flip the index for PFD and ND panel for both of these elements. Save the file and restart Pop Out Manager.
  • When you initiate pop out, you should see Pop Out Manager will pop out ND first before PFD if that was not how it was defined before. This change did resolve the duplicate PFD issues for me.

ok i’ll try this next week when i get back from holiday

I appreciate the new feature of minimizing after pop out!

Yet I found another issue: Whenever I have the pop outs in place and need to go into MSFS´s menu to change something it goes as follows:
Just after hitting save and apply either one or two of the popouts just go from fullscreen into windowed mode with title bar… If I select a panel with the mouse and make it fullscreen via ALT + Enter again this does not happen any more when making changes within MSFS´s menu.
Is there any way to fix this?

Hi Flightsimmer845,

I’m not able to reproduce your issue about full screen panel goes into windowed mode after apply setting in MSFS menu. I tested on PDMG 737 and C172. Your issue is probably game related. Since pop out manager does not send or listen to any command to adjust panel after initial pop up and adjustments, there must be something in MSFS, probably a bug, that causes your selected panel to re-render back to initial state (non full screen) after apply setting in MSFS menu. Which aircraft and panel are you experiencing this issue and I’ll see if I can reproduce it on my end?

One thing to try is make sure you select “Lock Panels” to disable any changes to your panel configuration after you got everything setup for your aircraft. This should prevent any app in windows, not just Pop Out Manager, to send erroneous keystrokes to affect the state of your panels.

Hi RoastGnu,

Thanks again for your wonderfull app to make life somewhat eaiser for us Home Cockpit builders as Asobo/MS does not support saving pop out screens as other flight sims will do, like P3D and XPLANE.

Is it possible once I have configured my airplane screens with the app and it is working OK, so the next time I fire up the airplane in MSFS the app works silently in the background and set up the earlier configured pop outs without itself showing any app screens and need for any mouse involvement in the app itself. I just want it to be invisible, just setting the pop outs.

Hi Voss1917,

Yes, it can definitely be done. Please follow the steps before to have Pop Out Manager running 100% in the background when you are flying.

  1. Setup all profiles you would like to use and bind them to aircraft that you fly. I believe you’ve done this step already.

  2. In menu Preferences => Application Settings

    • Check “Auto Start”
    • Check “Minimize to Tray”
    • Check “Start Minimized”

In menu Preferences => Pop Out Settings

    • Check “Minimize Pop Out Panel Manager After Pop Out”

What the above settings would do are:

  1. Add an entry to exe.xml to start Pop Out Manager as MSFS starts
  2. Pop Out Manager will be minimized on start and run in Windows tray
  3. Since you already defined profile and aircraft binding, when you start a flight with an aircraft, Pop Out Manager will automatically switch to the select aircraft profile and perform auto pop out. Just make sure you don’t move your mouse when auto pop out process is happening. Once pop out is completed, Pop Out Manager will not appear at all and will stay hidden in Windows tray.

Another hidden feature is you can also right or left click on Pop Out Manager tray icon to switch to other profile or initiate pop out process. But the tray icon is a little buggy because on my PC, when I start MSFS, my Windows 11 tray icons sometimes fail to response, not just Pop Out Manager but other tray icons as well, and I’m not sure is it a MSFS issue or Windows issue.
