Thought of one more thing that causes reconfigure of every profile that if possible you could also include in the new version.
If you move even slightly your display relationships in windows or like happened to me yesterday have a machine issue that caused me to disconnect and reconnect monitors while troubleshooting and then windows messing up what I had, all your POPM profiles have to be adjusted. It treats the popout position as an X, Y on one big canvas of all your monitors. It would be better if possible to tell POPM the X, Y from the top left of just the monitor you want it on. We then just tell it the monitor id and the x, y, w & h. If then as happens the display relationships change the popout is still placed on the same monitor in the same location and not shifted by a few pixels.
If windows had a precise pixel accurate way of setting the display positions this wouldnāt be an issue but AFAIK thatās not a feature.
I have already thought of it, thatās how I added touch support in latest POPM for panel when in full screen mode, by detecting which monitor the original pop out panel window is located, then use the dimension of the monitor to detect touch boundary. The thing I am not sure if I can get the same monitor display id if you have multiple monitors turning on and off. The display id may changed. Also, when dragging panel across monitor boundary when configuring pop out, how will it work. Anyway, Iāll try to add this idea for MSFS 2024 version of POPM
hi, i just started using this pop out manager but it only undocks the left PFD in Asobo C172, the right MFD does not get undocked and returns an error message, i am not sure how to fix that, thank you
Can you manually pop both of them out (left PFD, right MFD) using Right-Alt + Left click since POPM just simulates these keystroke? If you can manually pop the panels out, the next thing to check is to see if the panel source circles are within the boundary for your right MFD or use a different fixed camera angle to select the right MFD panel.
thanks for your help, but i was able to resolve the issue, if i was in full screen mode i can only pop out one screen, once i changed to windowed mode i was able to pop out all of the panels
This means an aircraft has not been loaded by the game yet and POPM is unable to read that info. But once you start a flight, the active aircraft information should change to your current selected aircraft.
POPM 2024 beta has been released at my github repo and at Flightsim.to. With the limited time I was able to log into the game and sneak couple of short C172 flights in without CTD, I was able to fix most of the breaking issues that caused POPM to fail in MSFS 2024. Since there are quite a few behind the scene changes in MSFS 2024 compare to MSFS 2020, instead of creating a single version of POPM for both MSFS 2020 and 2024, Iāve decided to created a new version of the app for MSFS 2024 and support it going forward.
Currently, there are one showstopping issue with POPM 2024 regarding auto pop out. My other community plugin āready-to-fly-button-skipperā that POPM relies on no longer works. The workaround is you have to manually click āReady to Flyā button during the preflight cinematic to start a flight. Then auto pop out will then detect the action and start the pop out process. You can adjust the auto pop out delay in POPM preferences. This issue is at the top of my to-do list.
With this beta release, I will not be able to support it for the next 3 weeks during my family vacation/holiday starting tomorrow but I will be back home around mid December to continue development of POPM 2024. Thank you all for your patience.
Anyway, hope this beta works out for all of you who are fortunate enough to get into the game!
I apologise. I should have been more specific but I was sortaā¦ hmmā¦ āpolite rage postingā, I suppose.
This issue had happend just now in 2020 while I WAS in the cockpit and trying to manually pop out. It did not happen a few days ago on my last flight and the only changes since then were an update from SPAD.NEXT (including new bridge I think) and wellā¦ that MSFS2024 thing.
But anyway, since therre is already a 2024 version for popping out, this is a lower priority.
I did a thorough check just now and popping out in 2020 works again as before. Probably just something on my side, I should have restarted the PC earlier.
I also tried POPM for 2024. I only popped out a single screen on the TBM930 but it worked rightaway and even seemed to work faster than the 2020 version - Well done !!
It didnt auto pop out on start but I didnt think it would and honestly, I dont mind pushing that button manually.
I will try multiple popouts with touchscreen sometime this weekend but so far, Iām happy.
So once more: thank you and have a nice vacation !
Thanks Stanley. Hopefully the new sim will allow me to test it out in the next 3 weeks. Thatās annoying about the button skipper as that is so nice. Letās hope you can solve that one when you are back. In the meantime have a great vacation.
Shot in the darkā¦ Anyone using POM with AMD Fluid Motion Frames? FMF works fine until I pop out panels then it get disabled. Sure would be nice to use both. But I will take POM over FMF if need be. Thx.
Iām using the new MSFS Popout Panel Manager 2024.
Unfortunately it works a little bit different than the 2020 version. Iām not able to select my popout panels from a user defined cockpit view, but only from the Pilot, Copilot or Instrument views.
This works fine, however after popping out I suddenly have a 3D pilot sitting on my Captain Chair which is blocking the sight.
Hi, the 2024 version opens and minimizes to the taskbar but when I click on it whilst in game it crashes, canāt get it to open. Anyone have the same issue?
Some more feedback for when you get back from vacation:
Tried the 2024 Poput (with Spacedesk) with the three screens on the TBM930. I replicated my settings from the 2020 version as much as possible.
Popout worked fine, all screens are where they are supposed to. I set up one screen as a touchscreen for the control screen in the 930 (the one in the center that you canā¦ well, touch. Sorry, I forgot the actual name) and that had some issues. When I touch the screen, it centers the mouse curor on that screen. I have to touch it again to actually make something happen. Refocusing on the main game seems to only work sometimes.
I know I had some issues with this in the 2020 version and was told this has something to do with Spacedesk. I did get it to work in 2020 although I am not quite sure how.
I dont know if this is some limitation of Spacedesk with 2024 or if its me or something in POPM.
End of report.
UPDATE:
I āfixedā this issue the same way I fixed it in 2020:
When the issue as described above appears, while sitting in the cockpit, I stop all popout process, turn off Spacedesk and turn it back on again, then re-popout the panels in the plane and everything works as it should !
In other words: turn it off and back on again.
For me, this means that POPM 2024 does everything that 2020 did and that I need from it so once again, thank you very much for your work !
I have got a Problem with the Displays from Airbus A400M.
I can drag all Displays to other Monitors but I canāt click on the Multifuntion Displays on other Monitors. I canāt interact, I canāt open the Menues.
Somebody have an Idea?
UPDATE: found the answer to my question. Putting it here, in case anyone else needs it.
The settings and log files for the 2024 version are in the āC:\Users<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager 2024ā folder, not in your Documents folder like in v2020.
I also found a workaround for my crash: do NOT set the app to auto-minimize to tray on start. If you do that, you might not be able to bring it back to change config. In my case it kept crashing any time I tried to maximize it from the tray.
I know Stanley is on a well-deserved vacation, but hopefully someone else knows:
Where does the 2024 version store its config and especially log files? My āDocuments\MSFS Pop Out Panel Managerā folder seems to only have the 2020 stuff.
Iām especially interested in the log files, as the tool crashes any time I double-click the tray icon to display the main UI. It worked the first time, but no longer after that. Numerous reboots and no luck. I was hoping to look through the logs for clues, but the logs I see in that folder have no content from the 2024 version.
