MSFS Popout Panel Manager Issues

Hi
I’ve been trying to work with the MFS Popout Panel Manager tool for days. Unfortunately the following error message appears:

Unable to pop out the first panel. Please check the first panel’s number circle is positioned inside the panel, check for panel obstruction, and check if panel can be popped out. Pop out process stopped.

No matter what I do. Thank you for good advice.

Greetings Peter

I’m trying the C-172 with Garmin1000 and C-182 Carenado with Garmin 1000

Which aircraft and panel are you trying to use it on ?

I use the Carenado C-172 and C-182T with Garmin 1000

i dont use this utility but it kinda soundss like you did not finish the setup

you have to manually set these ‘number circles’ for each panel you want the app to control in step 3 of the instructions here

Also ensure you enable the option “Power On Required To Pop Out Panels” as the G1000’s cannot be popped out when powered off.

Sometimes the camera position that you set up the panels with is not saved properly and when you attempt to pop them out you’ll see the camera go back to default - if you can see the circled ‘1’ appear outside the panel it should be on, that’s what happened. There’s a button to override the camera position and re-save it, so make sure the camera is where it should be and use that, then try again. Happens to me occasionally with existing saved configs, no idea why.

Has anyone had any issues with the preferences not saving? My POPM does not start automatically with the sim, and I noticed in preferences there’s a checkbox for that which was unchecked. I check it, but then don’t see any kind of “save” button, so I just close the preferences screen. But when I go back in, it’s still unchecked. Sort of weird…

It needs an entry in the exe.xnl file to start automatically with the sim.
First thing to check is did that entry get made correctly.

Hi Stanley,

Is it possible to add a keyboard key assignment such as ESC to quit the popout process. Because it starts automatically on aircraft load there are times I don’t want it and have no way of stopping it.

Hi,
I know the auto start commands of MSFS PPM is in the file exe.xml in the folder **AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft. FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache, but i cannot find it there. Is the file somehow hidden (show hidden files is on), is it somewhere else or do I not have access ( I am adm)?

Hi, love the app. It’s made my A320 cockpit a reality at last. However, it seems to be hanging FS2020 often. I’ve isolated it to the app with popouts displayed or at least in conjunction to my system. I’ve taken most other add ons out, reverted to older more stable graphics drivers to be clear it is this and it does seem like this is causing it, literally freezes FS2020… and wondered if there are any tips or common issues i can look at to solve this? Thanks in advance, Tim

Given how it works, it’s very hard to see how POPM could hang the sim process. They are not really directly connected. If you have touch enabled then POPM intercepts touch events on the pop-out area and sends mouse events to the sim, but this is all mediated via standard Windows events, not via POPM-to-sim communication.

Try popping out manually. Don’t run POPM, hover over your pop-outs in the cockpit one by one and use right-alt-click to pop them out. See if the sim freezes in the same way that it does with POPM running. If it does, that means the sim is your problem. Why, I have no idea TBH, but I’d be very surprised if this happens only when POPM is running.

If it really can be traced to POPM then you’ll need @RoastGnu to take a look at it.

Thanks so much - that’s great advice and I will try popping them out manually to confirm. I expect you’re right if it’s not really a known issue though. Will report back.

happy to report my problem not to do with popout panel manager. seemingly my graphics driver / dlss updating had got messed up somewhere. upgraded to the 20th feb driver and all seems to be good again. thanks.

By chance, anybody using POM with AMD fluid motion frames. Popping out with POM disables AFMF for me. Thx.

I use SpaceDesk to extend my screen to two touchscreen tablets. My MSFS Popout Manager pops out the two tablets in the PMDG B738 just fine, and one of them works as a touchscreen just as it should. But though I’ve re-popped out the other tablet many times (deleting, then adding), and chosen the touchscreen icon (turns green) for that popout, it responds to touches only about one time in ten or twenty, which makes it pretty useless as a touchscreen. It works fine if I move the mouse onto that screen and poke icons, and if I just run the tablet standalone without SpaceDesk or a popout, the touchscreen works just fine (so I don’t think it’s a tablet hardware problem). Any others see behavior like this, or any ideas of what to try?
Thanks in advance,
Erik Goodman

Hi. I’m having issues with shutter and FPS increasing and decreasing when I enable POP OUT MANAGER to broadcast MCDU screens. What does it depend on? if I don’t activate the fps stay on 60 (blocked by me) without any shutter problems

Make sure Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling (HAGS) is enabled. This helps when you have multiple windows going.

yes it’s enabled I use dlss with 4070

I cant get POP out manager to work in MSFS2024 latest official build? I get CTD.

Is it possible to get it to work?, is there any special settings needed to make it work or is it still broke by MS/Asobo?
