For those people who wish they had purchased either the Premium or Deluxe packages, but were put off by the high price of upgrading… The two packages are each on sale right now for 35% off, I assume until July 31st, 2023.
I knew of the Summer sale, but didn’t realize the main packages were on sale, too.
Just a heads up as it may not be obvious to all.
I noticed it when I updated the Xbox app on my PC.
PS, when updating MSFS, make sure you apply all Windows and Xbox updates to your PC first. Not doing this has caused havoc in the past for some users. I haven’t heard as much about that lately, but it’s still a good idea.
The discount should always have existed. It was totally wrong for MS to charge full price for the upgrade in the first place.
If I buy a car and find the standard stereo needs upgrading, I don’t expect to pay for a new car, just the upgraded stereo. How is msfs any different in principle.
Perhaps the Microsoft thinking is that if you bought the base model of your car but now you want the top of the range, you need to buy a new car?
Just a suggested alternative guess to your guess.
Got my update to premium deluxe and downgraded my Gamepass from ultimate to PC Gamepass last week. At least MS listened to us whiners and put the upgrade on sale.
When I bought the original, standard, version I felt that there wasn’t enough “extras” in the upgraded offerings to make it worth the increased cost.
Since that time MS has released multiple new aircraft and airports, not to mention the World Updates so that what we have today bears little resemblance to two years ago. So do I go for a “cheap” upgrade? In retrospect I probably should have gone “Deluxe” but that’s now clouds behind us.
But now? Well, the answer is still the same; even at the discounted prices I don’t feel the “few” extras are worth it as in twelve months time we’re going to be asked to fork out again for MSFS 2024.
Only worth it if you want to experience the excellent C700 Longitude or the nearly as good 787. This also allows you to try the Kuro 788 assuming you are on PC. Also, there’s the great black square baron and wbsim c172 (don’t know about the quality of this one) which needs the premium delux version. And these are supposed to carry over to MSFS 2024 from what I understood from MSFS 2024 faq. Since these are marketplace items, they should just carry over.
As well as the “Classic” C172. And, for some people, like me, access to the Cirrus is important. Both of those were key to me. And now, with the 15% discount on so many products, it easily pays for itself, especially with the discount.
