So, I started MSFS (I’m running current version 1.21.18) this evening and got a prompt to head to microsoft store for an MSFS update–which I did–I selected update apps, which it did. I then started MSFS again and it wants to do a complete 115GB reinstall of MSFS even though it’s showing the correct current version. Not sure how to proceed. Any thoughts?
Using Win 10 64bit. The ethernet plug was unplugged for the last 2 weeks and plugged in again prior to starting MSFS tonight. MSFS was fully updated prior to unplugging.
I put my old path C:\msfs2020 in the browse portion of the main installation instead of the default and it went back to normal boot screens and all appears good. Not sure if was an issue with no connectivity via the ethernet for 2 weeks or what. Mystery gremlin.
It sounds like you may have opted in to the last flighting (beta) opportunity. Anyone who hadn’t removed themselves from the beta by 13 January was removed from it by MS. This resulted in all of us in the beta having a fairly small basic update. For the most part, anyone that had the sim in a custom folder got the “request” to do a full reinstall. The fix for most folks was to do what you did….point the installer to the right folder and generally all was good.
Glad it worked for you in the end.
Regards
If it starts loading to the wrong location close the sim and edit the newly created UserCfg.opt’s package path to the desired location, if your Community and Official folders already exist the installer will see them at the next start up and will adjust the download to suit.
