Even with FastLaunch the loading takes much to long for only the menue. i open up Google Earth in 2 Seconds, i think the menue is such slow because the background Downloads. I also dont know why my GPU is powered up to 99% while loading a boring menue.
Thanks, worked for me too (on 1 euro gamepass)
MS Store, SSD, fast launch enabled
time to āpress any keyā 40sec
total time to main menu 120sec
Thatās way too slow if you have to work with the sim and you have to restart it often.
With a slimmed down version of P3D I had the startup time down to 15sec.
Poor startup here, 3:18 minutes compared to 48 seconds P3D v5 with nearly 300 gb of Orbx products and many other Add onās.
Samsung ssd 970 evo plus m.2
i9 9900K
RTX 2080 X Super
32 GB Corsair ram
-FastLaunch disable into with logos which cuts about 20 second of launch time.
For me, it take 40 second from the time I press PLAY button to MSFS window appearing on taskbar. Total loading time to the main menu is now 2 minutes with -FastLaunch. I have M.2 SSD drive, i7-9700 and 32GB memory, so definitely not hardware issue but more or less normal loading procedure probably due to large amount of data
FlightSimulator.exe: 317MB
steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator: 2138 files, 323 folders, 1GB
content folder (āOfficialā): 62090 files, 2176 folders, 100GB
Just looking at these numbers, itās pretty clear that loading efficiency was not the priority here. Pretty standard for flight simulators though.
It takes me over 7 minutes of waiting from the time i click on the game icon to where I can start flying
this whole post!
Yeah, the āpress any keyā is sooo dumb. But you made me realize it would not be very dumb at all if it were at the very END of all the loading. It might even be kind of cool to have all the video clips going until you tap a key for the menus.
its absurdly slow for me too.. i have nvme pci4 that does 3GB/s read and this game takes like 2 minutes to load⦠HD led hardly gets lit.. so it looks like the sim is either calling home or just thinking
i hate it when it crashes and i have to re open it (jhappened a handful of times in couple of days)ā¦
Yes it super slow. It wouldnāt bother if I didnāt had to restart it each time I change plane/location due to the live weather bug.
Yep, Iād be totally happy with that.
A console āfeatureā, probably so that players who are AFK (or worse, bots/hackers) donāt eat up bandwidth for Microsoft.
I can see my WindowsApps folder and access it but I canāt find the actual exe which starts the MSFS. How to do this?
It is here : AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App
If it is on your c drive, you can create a command prompt shortcut by right clicking on your desktop, click NEW, click SHORTCUT and use the following code:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App ā-FastLaunchā
In comparison with fsx it takes a lot longer thatās true but i donāt think it is unusualy long. If you compare it with XPlane it takes about the same amount of time. It is a big game and on flight sims patience is key
I get a kick out of all the complaints with load times. Try Xplane with hundreds addons then come back here. Itās way longer.
Good Point, never looked at it that way, however, during the sim startup, all the activity seems to be focused on the GPU and the CPU/Internet are nearly idle.
I guess you folks never launched Xplane or p3dā¦they take just as long if not longer.
@Sixtymikegrr
For FDE devlopment Iāve used a very slim version which did start up in 15sec.
Iād love to know what, or if anything at all can be deleted to achieve a faster MSFS startup.
