Yes, confirmed for Jul/Aug 2026 in April 15th Dev livestream
SU 17 now pushed to September at the earliest. I read it on a different post.
SU17 was always schedued for Sept 26. It has not been pushed back. 2020 is only getting 2 SU updates this year. Support is shifting to 2024 slowly and I suspect at some point in the future will end for 2020 (my opinion).
Which is not unexpected, and you can’t really blame Asobo as they can’t be expected to supply updates for older versions without an end date. You just have to hope the remaining SU releases fix most of the outstanding issues and leaves the sim in a more solid state.
Yes, totally agree. After knowing what happened with SU16, I think most of us on the PC side would have preferred the option for development to end with an SU15.1 hotfix for the ‘Flightsimulator.exe still running after exit’ issue. And then have it be left alone, permanently!
(And from what I’ve read on this forum, others who have had MSFS 2020 much longer than I have might have wished for development to have stopped with MSFS 2020 SU4, since SU5 was the first update that apparently downgraded the overall flying experience more than improving it.)
As it is, and without any indication of what bugs or dare-we-hope even wishlist items are being tracked for SU17, this next MSFS 2020 update has a 50/50 chance of being either an improvement or yet another forced downgrade to the current flying experience for both PC and XBOX users.
Please restore accurate textures for FS2020 and FS 2024 simulators immediately. A solution that allows the user to choose either 512x512 pixels or 256x256 on a more modest computer would also be good.
I use the FS2020 simulator myself.
There needs to be a ‘1000%’ option on this forum for statements such as this.
As noted in the main su16 feedback thread, with all the su5 issues for 2024, su17 and whatever good or bad it may bring has been pushed from July to September. I do feel though with Jorg and the teams contempt now for the 2020 sim, that further “we didn’t expect that to happen” changes or downgrades are almost a certainty to encourage everyone to move to 2024. Very worried that SU16 dug the hole, and SU17 could bury the sim for good.
Or miracles could happen and after the pain of the last year they could spend 5 minutes to actually do something useful and ethical by reallowing support for third party high res 512x512 aerials. Even if the vaseline covered world they brought with 2024 and then made us have in 2020 too needs to remain, at least we could again leverage the community to provide what Asobo can’t or won’t.
1000% percent bro, a single vote is just not enough
And as of yesterday being a full year since with no attempt to resolve it, Asobo’s supposed respect for the community upon which MSFS is built is likewise not nearly enough..
