For some reason MSFS thinks I have not updated to SIM update 13, which I did a couple of months ago, and played since. I have not played for a month and it is now trying to update again. Problem is it is stuck in n infinite loop trying to download fs-base-generic airports-0.1.52.fspackage. I am running the steam version. I have tried deleting that folder, to see it it will see it is missing, I have even tried the delete fsbase folder suggestion, but no go, it is stuck here. I thought someone might know a work around before I have to uninstall, and reinstall and re-add all my addons. ( I removed the community folder in case it was an issue there.)
Looks like there is maybe an issue on MSFS servers side, not only affecting download of SU14B:

yea, looks like they have broken something pretty well. Problem is, makes the game unplayable as you cannot progress past the sim trying to download something that is already there, that it thinks it is not, and when you do remove it, it still cannot download it. Looks like I will just leave it running infinitum and see what happens in a day or two. Thanks MS ![]()
I am returning to the game after 15 years! So am a total rookie.
Last night mine managed to download all 508 of 508 files of the mandatory update, but then got stuck decompressing one of them (fspackage.25).
The installer appears to delete each fspackage it has already decompressed? This means when I restart the installer today it’s trying to re-download fspackages 1-24 even though I already have the contents of those decompressed.
Download speed isn’t directly the issue for me it seems, but a decompression one. Memtest, drive space etc. all fine, so not sure what else I can do. Presumably a VPN won’t fix a buggy decompression step.
Sad to say, the issue is still there. It is definitely a download issue, the file I am now stuck on is the Kitfox, and I can see by my file manager that the file is not downloading. So after 17hrs, I got the core packages installed, but now any additional content in my content manager is being problematic. It will get to a point where is partially downloads something, and then loop back and start again. Seems to do that consistantly until all parts are downloaded. Tried changing speed etc, but no difference. I wonder if MS will ever fix this.
This forum is an excellent opportunity for Microsoft to come on and tell us something in real time about the problem. Even a ‘We are aware of the situation and are working on it’ would be better than nothing. Is it so hard for someone to sit down at a keyboard for thirty seconds?
Apparently so!
This is still the original problem everyone suffered during SU13 update mess. As client has not been updated and you can still also see 1Mbit/s download speeds from Marketplace content/updates you can expect the same original updating problems to persist. Nothing has been fixed and nothing new has been included in the beta 14 release notes about this issue so far either. In some days SU14 will come. We will all see what happens then, including MS/Asobo.
Cheers
