Ok after playing around for the past two days to get update 5 to download I think I may know what is going on. I put this out more as a question than a “know what the issue is” but I have to start somewhere.
I kept having the down load loop and would restart get a few files to download then off to the loop again. I did’t pay attention to file size or anything but it appeared to be the larger files that had the issue. I got stuck on one of the Landing challenge files always starting on the first file to download. Before it would pick one randomly and I would on occasion get a few, up to 7 files downloaded before it would loop. After deleting that file it finely downloaded with no issues. The next file again looped and I deleted it. After doing this two or three more times I got frustrated and deleted all the files that had not been freshly updated over the past two days.
After deleting the files all is downloading normally, no more loops.
This brings me to what I think is going on. After deleting all those files that did not have a fresh update I thought “Darn I should have checked to see if they were read only.” Not wanting to reverse my uninstall of those files I did check the one big one that I knew I had issues with and low and behold it is Read only. The smaller files are also read only but they in general had no issues updating.
Now my theory / Question could the larger update file loop be being caused by the files being read only? If this is the case would it be something Asobo / MS could fix for future updates?
