MSFS will not quit to desktop

Hi all, I’ve been out of the loop for a while but tried to install the latest update (France, benelux I think it’s called) the other day:

Downloaded OK but the installation got stuck on decompression. Left it running for an hour or so, still stuck at the decompression stage.
When I tried to quit to desktop the sim wouldn’t shut down, it was stuck. The only way to shut down now is with task manager.

Has anyone had this and have you found a solution?

Thanks for the pointer ccrbc but unfortunately no solution provided there.

Another forum provided an answer: The files for the France and Benelux update had been downloaded to the “official” folder but for some reason MSFS had got stuck some sort of download/decompression loop which had made parts of the UI unresponsive.

Deleting the downloaded update files from the official folder and starting the update again cured the problem…all OK now and all updated.
