MSFS2020 World Update 23 - (Not being released)?

Can anyone confirm if this post I found on the internet is correct?

I saw the latest trailer for FS2024 and as a FS2020 user, wondered if it was being released at the same time. As an addition to “Update 22” (which I feel is more of a “City” update, albeit Parks, than a “World” update, I searched for World Update 23. I was rather shocked to see that the internet suggested that there were no more updates after WU21.

The internet AI said “Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) will not receive a World Update 23, as active development and major world updates have shifted to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The final updates for the 2020 platform concluded following the release of World Update 21: Australia”.

The internet AI is wrong.

" The graphic below shows our release plans for the rest of the calendar year for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and Microsoft Flight Simualtor 2024 ."

Thank you for your reply.

Nice to confirm.

So how come the new update is FS24 only?

because world update 22 is mostly countryside TIN (the national parks) which is a feature that is not available in MSFS2020.

Ok thank you. That explains it.

I’d like to think regardless of the features that FS2020 does not support, we can at least get the update with those bits taken out. Afteral, Microsoft have managed to provide us with Update 1 through 21 without any issues.

Regardless of “It’s not supported”, Microsoft promised us updates, bug fixes and scenery updates for 10 years at point of sale.

Going back to my original post… If Microsoft has not released World Update 22 for FS2020, maybe that’s it for 2020. If so, it’s a great shame.

‘the bits taken out’ would be 99% of the content of this specific WU, and the remaining 1% (the POI’s) would probably end up floating in the air due to differences in the DEM.
