OMG, you are right. They did work on the pedal behavior. Need to do further tests, but it seems to be significantly improved. That begs the question: why are Microsoft so opposed to keeping their customer in the loop? There has been no mention in any change log of the work they do on the 407.
Flight model is much improved. Several issues I observed. Slip ball behavior seems incorrect, it seems to indicate that full left pedals is required for cruise flight, autorotation is still unrealistic. The throttle does not appear to be operative.
I think they re worked the model itself to, as to me it seems more solid.

can no longer translate through seat while still possible through open space above the seats.
Don’t mean the collective throttle twist, I mean the cyclic stick. When you push the stick to the left or right, it was rotating like a twist grip joystick.
oh I didn’t notice anythig out of the ordinary, so probably fixed. small clip I filmed where you can see cyclic moving just fine.

They did a lot of work and it’s a huge improvement…but there is a lot to still do.
It flies much better, and you need pedal to counter torque. It’s very stable, but it’s flying almost like a helicopter now. Something isn’t quite right in the yaw axis. You can fly sideways as fast as you can fly forward. I’m going to submit a bug for the vertical stabilizer not working, and probably the trim ball too.
Some of the doors and click spots aren’t working properly. The textures have some artifacts and there are some broken modelling edges if you look closely at the door frames. Being able to fold out the step behind the left rear door is a nice touch. Hopefully it’s a sign of where it’s headed and we’ll be able to climb up to inspect the mast. There are some floating stickers that are 15° off from the pitch links they belong on.
I just gave this a try the other day with an Xbox style controller and all helicopter controller assistance turned on. Getting off the ground was ok. Trying to fly forward via the joystick was impossible and had to rely mostly on trim to get anything resembling forward trajectory. Minor joystick movements resulted in extreme pitch movements. The rudder wasn’t much different, being wildly unstable. Any minor correction resulted in nearly spinning out of control.
I was never able to achieve proper forward flight. With the clear skies preset, the best I could do was fly at about a 45 degree crab.
I hadn’t flown a heli in the sim in ages because of similar issues. Maybe in another few years I’ll try it again.
Try again but ignore the trim ball. Look down through the chin bubble to align your yaw axis with direction of travel and you will be a lot closer to flying in trim. Let me know how it feels if you try it this way.
I saw some of the earlier posts and did a quick flight. I can indeed confirm that they are actively working on it. now is the time for detailed bug reports.
I typically fly 3rd person view for better sightseeing, but I may give that a try. I will say that any time I have tried to yaw in line with the direction of travel, it immediately bounces back to what it considers “neutral” when I let off the rudder controls (which are re-mapped to the shoulder triggers). It doesn’t try to constantly yaw as if it’s a centering/dead zone issue with my controller, but more like the tail is rubber banded to a certain orientation, and any correction is immediately reverted as soon as I stop the active control, as if the correction was never made.
Been trying the 407 again lately - it’s like a completely different helo, sounds like an underpowered blender, can’t open cockpit windows, floats vs flies - and I’m on an AB9/Virpil Collective. At least today there are much better options.
Yaw input with helicopters is not the same as fixed wing. It’s anti-torque input, it should correspond with your collective setting. When you make an input, it should stay and not return to center.
Your ‘feet’ must move with the collective. or whatever you use to control the tail rotor. If collective comes up, power pedal goes in. If collective goes down, power pedal comes out.
Helicopters don’t experience adverse yaw like fixed wing because the thrust vector and lift vector are the same.
This aircraft needs a rollback. Bring the old Bell407 back!!
The new version is in short terms the worse helicopter FS2024 can have.

i totally understands you mate, but here is my point. I do flightsimming since 2004 with way over 10.000 hours and now you expect me running a beta to have a bugs fixed? I keep changing aircraft this way.
This Bell407 mistake update was better trashing or stay the old one in. I had tons of fun with it even that time it keep floating and floating and floating.
How hard can it be testing before release?
Even if they asked me first, Ray can you please be our testpilot. I would say with honor i do for free.
Point is with every update new airplanes be released as “make good” but we dont need “make goods”.
All we want is fly our beloved airplanes we dreamed of as kid.
For me that was after in FSX flying the Nasa mission with the King Air 350i or the apple mission you had to fly with the Beechcraft Baron. Today still my most beloved models.
Check there status now and find out the barely fly and not even like the baron reach his speed or like the King air missing value you need for a cold and dark start. Same is my last report from the Skycourier, where value from engine 2 never shows. Its just a shame this isn’t solved quickly after a release and bugs stay for years popping up. That’s what you expect from a cloud based content right?
So i am good with you and respect your writing, but no i am not a greenie who flies for the first time. I more would name myself a complete idiot with the love for airplanes and helicopters.

Translation, don’t fly helicopters with a controller? Because it’s going to be near impossible to fly like that with one without getting finger fatigue trying to hold such a precise trigger position. And what about simply trying to yaw to turn without a power change, where it’ll still snap back? Shouldn’t it maintain at least close to the new orientation when letting off the control?
Not really. What I was pointing out is that the fixes are in the pipeline and are provided whenever SU6 releases to public. Oh, and I’m flightsimming since Flight Unlimited (not that it counts over here, just for reference).
