[MSFS2024] Bell 407

set the bumpers to ‘increment/decrement tail rotor’ instead of using the triggers as an axis. That way you can tap in what you need and it stays there.

tap in some power pedal as you increase collective slowly up to a hover. It should hold that heading as long as you don’t move the collective up or down(which should be on a button press for the same reason). Then you tap in some pedal to turn whatever direction you want while hovering. Tap in some opposite pedal to stop the turn and adjust as needed to hold the new heading.

I would map the cyclic to the right stick. View control to the left stick. bumpers for anti-torque(tail rotor) pedals, up/down on d-pad for collective.

pedals and collective aren’t exactly ‘set and forget’ controls, but you move them a lot less than the cyclic

That was the default, and is worse than using the analog triggers. It removes all frame of reference as to what the tail rotor is doing and is almost impossible to make corrections without overcorrecting.

It already does this, perhaps because I have the tail rotor assistant turned on.

It may take playing that way for a few minutes to get used to, but that’s how I configure my controller when I fly with a gamepad.

Learning how not to over-correct is the name of the game with helicopters. They are not stable like airplanes. There is no center. You constantly have to maintain the balance with small corrections back and forth.

You probably don’t want to hear this, but I don’t think it’s a control settings issue. Pick one, stick with it and practice. You need to build up the muscle memory so that it becomes second nature to make the corrections. The only way to do that is to fly…a lot.

Start with all of the assists on and turn them off as you improve.

Updates didn’t made it into SU6.

Considering forum opinions on the Stranger Things Huey and the H135, neither Nemeth nor Taog will deliver satisfying results either

If i can defend Taog here. The flight model on the free Huey was done by Asobo. Anyone who asks about the free Huey in the Taog’s discord gets sent here. I think the oppurtunity to make a native aircraft was something Taog couldnt pass up and i dont think the team knew the flight model would be changed so much. Just my two cents. Taog’s makes the best helicopters in the sim hands down bar none. The H500c and Dauphin are incredible. Now to get back to the 407, people have made exhaustive list of issues and there seems to have been improvement (though seemingly no patch notes) but not to the standard that we are used to from some aircraft and devs (like Taog’s 500c).

It doesnt just to consumer, but to the companies as well. Tbh, thanks to “care” of inibuilds gave to default planes i decided to dont buy anything from them. Reason is simple. They just let not finished aircraft to slip into a game without any testing. ( And im not counting “is it flying? → yes” as proper method of testing.)

checking in two weeks later. really hope this thing doesnt take another 6-12 months for another update.

It seems the updates to the Bell 407 we saw in SU6 Beta are now available since yesterdays patch

At least I was able to take a quick flight with pedals acting normal, also the screws on the exterior look like how I remember them from the Beta build.

Did a test and nothing has changed. All reported bugs are still there.

Yeah, I’ll have to agree with this. Visually and mechanically, it feels the same as it did two weeks ago, two months ago, however long ago now … etc.

Okay, well, now it seems there is an entirely new build of the 407 included in the SU7 Beta:

Rivets are fixed and it seems to have more exterior detail.

But also some obvious visual bugs are still in place:

The throttle grip is still not animated and the baggage door doesn’t open. In general the cockpit seems to have received some changes:

I won’t be able to go through a test ride now but it looks at least promising  Once again there are no change notes for the 407 however.

If the flight model is improved, that would get me to jump back into the beta…

The paintwork is still wrong, it is matte and used to be glossy. I can’t believe I’m the only one noticing it or saying anything. This one and the green/black both have this problem.

Can you check if the cyclic is still a twist grip? The animation of the cyclic was completly wrong and the Stick twisted to the left and right.
