[MSFS2024] Boeing 747-8i (-8F)

Yep it’s because when I do free flight, I choose a airline out of the airport and see who’s flying and select a random aircraft that that airline flew from their airline history, so best 747 options for that is the 100, 200, sp, and 400 and you get way more available operators

Not sure how this is related to the 747-8i(-8F) in the sim?
”I would like a different aircraft” is more of a wishlist item I would think?

I hope the 747 in the sim gets another update to fix the incorrect masking on the windows that drives me crazy.

anyone has an idea why they put the default WT EFB into the 787 but not into the 747 cockpit ?
msfs2024 of course.
i guess we have to wait for pmdg to get a nice one ! and much more detailed aircraft. but for a default the747 is not bad, it needs some more polish work.

Yes even the 747-400 supertanker has an EFB in the cockpit

Different developers, different choices. Part of the downside of MS working with so many different first party partner developers is the consistency of the final result.

But guidance, project planning etc comes from MS. The different developers all do what Microsoft says.

And clearly Microsoft has not set a consistent standard.

The wingflex on the 747-8F needs adjustment. On the ground, the wings appear slightly bent downward at the tips more than they should be compared to the real aircraft. In the air, the flex is exaggerated and unrealistic, with too much movement. It would be great if this could be refined to better match real-world behavior.

Other than that, as others have already pointed out, the LOD on this aircraft is a complete mess. The nose cargo door opening is misaligned, and there are noticeable mesh artifacts. The landing gear appears tilted on the ground, and the stabilizers also have modeling issues that need correction.

Took the 747-8F on a flight from Leipzig EDDP to Hong Kong VHHH on Xbox series X. Flew it quite a bit on 2020 so was interested to see how it was on 24 and compared to the likes of the PMDG 777

Created a flight plan using simbrief to use for the setup, loaded in and powered up. First impression of the exterior model is that it is of a very low quality compared to basically every other plane on the sim - looks like something out of FS98. Went into the FMC and Index page to set up and found weight and balance. Managed to use this to add fuel but payload wouldn’t load in here. Had to use the sim EFB to load my payload

Started setting up and manually added my flight plan. Once I had done this, the sim performance was wrecked but pauses every couple of seconds. So evidently the long flight plan problem from 2020 still persists. Restarted the flight and this time only added a single figure number of waypoints that approximated the route. Performance fine after doing this

Finished setting up and pushed back from the stand. Engine start went fine and so I started to taxi - or at least tried to. Yes I was heavy, but I needed close to 50N1 just to make it move. Oh and the nose wheel steering axis doesn’t work with this aircraft so had to just use the rudder to steer on the ground

Takeoff was fine. Felt very heavy to get off the ground which was to be expected but then felt very light and snappy in the air compared to the 777 - had to be very careful with very small control inputs. The flight progressed generally fine although it kept overshooting every turn on autopilot and having to try to get back onto track

Landing. Performance wasn’t great into default Hong Kong 25C and after touchdown in a bit of a crosswind, the aircraft needed full aileron into the wind just to keep the upwind landing gear on the ground which seemed a bit extreme to me

When I took off (with winds loaded), the estimated arrival fuel was 20T. I was a couple of hours late in doing the final planned step climb which should have mean more fuel burn but I landed with a whopping 36T of fuel on board so fuel burn is definitely a bit off
