[MSFS2024] Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

Hi,

Ok, same as A220 flight control laws. No direct control over stabilizer trim, system keeps elevator and stabilizer faired in the background.

I should give it another go then, I remember during (early) FS2020 sim updates the speed trim disappeared, I haven’t tried it since. Good to hear that it is working.

We’ll be lucky to see the fixed 3D model by SU4 at the earliest. Of course, they’d rather sit on everything and dump it all in one bloated update instead of pushing out fixes when they’re ready. Which is ridiculous, because this is supposed to be a cloud-based sim — fast hotfixes should be the whole point. Instead, we’re left waiting around while they drag their feet.

Nine months since launch, and both the 787 and 747 — planes I paid extra for — have seen basically zero real improvements. They’re still riddled with visual glitches and look like something from a pre-alpha build. It’s beyond frustrating at this point.

Thanks. I like what they have done for the Asobo 787. In SU2 I believe they put in a nice profile/side view for the VNAV.

There are still some bugs. My routine flight is from Reno to SFO as I used to fly this in real life and I get a nice VNAV step down right to the ILS at SFO. However, does not work out of LAX for some reason. Of course could be operator error but I have a Commercial License and have read up on it. Works out of Fresno.

This is a lot easier to use that the 777 models IMHO.

I also have problems flying from Newark to JFK but that area is notorious. Philly to Newark is OK. Maybe there is something funny about the navaids.

Any way to give this team some direct feedback… used to write code in flight simulation?

Isnt the avionic of the 777 and 787 quite similar ?

Yes, WT have a discord and they are very responsive !

Nope. The 787 is another generation. The 777 seems to be similar to the 747 and the 747 is actually copied into some 777 simulations. The 777 requires a lot more care and feeding. Some people seem to light to fight their way through it but it is not for me.

The 787 flies well normally, at least in 2020 where it had actual wing flexure like a gull, which the real plane has.

777 and 787 is a common type rating :man_shrugging:. Well need a small differences course, so they are supposed to be quite similar in real life.

You can certainly get the 787-10 flying nicely by the seat of your pants, and if you turn on the HUD you get the visuals of WHY it’s flying nicely. I absolutely love that HUD on approach. I’ve only had a couple of flights in my 777-200ER,and I would say there’s a lot more workload for the sim pilot in the 787-10. The FBW in the 777-200ER is very, very nice IMHO, but I need more time in it to really get a sense of how they do it.

The plane itself is really nice graphically and technically, but the FPS is so bad (when compared to other default MSFS2024 airplanes).

Does anyone else also have such a bad performance in this aircraft?

Yes, the 787-10 was my go to plane on Xbox in MSFS 2020, but now that I am just starting to use MSFS 2024 on PC, I’m finding it to be a bit janky.

Picking up from various posts, I gather that Asobo made some changes to it for 2024, but they don’t have anyone to fix the art, so the default livery seems broken, the wing flex is not correct, instrument lighting seems too bright, and I’ve had performance tank sitting at JFK - some threads suggest having live traffic on (during high traffic times) is a cause. In the SU3 feedback thread there is a growing theme that opening the EFB from the toolbar causes performance to tank.

I haven’t figured out what the root cause for me is, but I turned it off out of disappointment for now.

Well since I appear to be the 787 fanboy here, thought I would post a view going up the California Coast from LAX to SFO. I have finally decided to ditch the air traffic both in the air and on the ground. This saves me 15 FPS. Much rather have a smooth show… am getting 80-110 FPS with my 5080. I said elsewhere that this works if you dial back your expectations and you graphics settings.

On the 787 the AP chews up a lot of cycles. They worked on in in SU2 but I did not see anything in SU3… should have looked more closely.

I love the 787 too just the default one is hard to come back too after the bravoairpace 787s feel and sound loads better. Plus lots of liveries

Absolutely bad perfomance (Xbox), bad FPS, stutters etc

Yes, really stuttery and seems to be related to Manipulators looking in dev mode. Same with the 737 Max. Tried downloading and still the same issue. I’m on 5800X3D and 7900XT. The plane also sadly flies like rhymes with glass.

No such problems with any other aircraft including the Fenix A320.

I tried it a couple months ago and forgot what the problem was. I guess I should try it again? Is this the one that actually has the wing camber? After Su2 the -10 had some good AP upgrades.

It seems everybody has given up this plane. Even it has reached another level of animation error, there is no discussion about it. Look at this:

Fly it all the time. Have not noticed this. The SU4 Beta update today really broke my VR but has been working fine prior.

I have given up on this aircraft. No wing flex, no gear tilt, tons of unused buttons, and the EFB in 24 clips through the window. The last time I tried to use the aircraft for an actual flight was on the Xbox S, and performance was horrendous. CTD almost every flight, except for one in June 2025 where I went transatlantic no issue until landing in Dublin, where frame rate crashed and I eventually gave up trying to taxi. The little Boeing EFB looking thing is completely useless except for takeoff performance, and that differs sometimes from the CDU takeoff speeds. I hate that there is no gear tilt, it looks terrible in replay modes. Furthermore, I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but the aircraft seems impossible to land smoothly. Even coming in fast and low, stabilized and with minima inputs, the landing gear seems to “magnetize” to the ground and the aircraft comes down annoyingly hard. I have decided to stick with the Asobo 737 MAX, which has its own plethora of issues.

The bravoairspace 787 is where its at, it’s working almost perfectly for me

It REALLY bothers me that almost 1 year post lauch (MSFS 2024) fixing the functionality and artwork of some of the Default and even Premium Planes has not been addressed. Otherwise, why have so many planes, and different tiers of MSFS?

I understand how MS/Asobo got here - Asobo had to focus on the simulator, and that meant MS / Jorg had to go find partnerships with 3rd party developers to clean up the planes - with systems being worked on by one party (eg Working Title) and artwork by other parties… all trying to work with Asobo to understand how each plane was built and/or fits in with Bush Trips, Career, etc.

But when nobody is actively engaged in taking responsibility for the overall state of each PLANE in this flight simulator - making sure all the aspects from various developers actually fits together as intended - sometimes they feel like an afterthought. And of course it also results in huge variation in quality and experience from plane to plane. This gap in management’s strategy needs to be filled in, in my opinion.

Yes, need to go back and re-try this one. SU4 Beta update today really did in my VG and changed the VR Toolbox Camera menus.
