Over 5 months after release the LOD (livery) issue is still not fixed:
Since everything is inaccessible for livery makers I wonder if Asobo themselves have lost the key
I am in the same boat. I think they just forgot to make this plane (and other 5 PD addons which are not listed separately so I am not able to list them ) available for 2020 PD users separately from the ābig upgrade from Standardā pack.
I donāt think it has been forgotten about - my guess is, like the H225, there are several glaring issues that have put it in a place where theyāre not comfortable charging money for on an individual purchase level. It will likely appear on the Marketplace after updates have been published.
Though Iāll admit, the 787 seems relatively solid aside from these visual LOD issues on the exterior - systems have been more than adequate in every flight Iāve had with it.
Maybe itās not available for MP for the same reason. I donāt get why some Deluxe and PD can be bought separately (including the two best ones, the Albatross and the Norden), but others canātā¦
In the case of at least one (the H225) theyāve been clear that itās not available for individual purchase because itās just not good enough to be sold individually yet. My guess is the others are in the same boat, though at varying degrees of ānot good enough.ā
But they continue informing us that the upgrade is available.
And when we press to go to Market Place to download them we see this (at the same time the plane is available for other 2024 non-standard users)
And we are not able to see what are the other 4 addons:)
Iām quite happy to wait for it as long as I know Iāll get it when itās available. If support or somebody would just confirm that, Iāll go away and wait patiently, a bit of simple communication is all thatās needed. The reason this bugs me so much is that, the 2024 version will probably get fixed up and become better over time, while the 2020 version will fall behind and likely get worse as it falls behind sim updates.
Unfortunatley, at the moment, itās the reverse. The 2020 787 is a better version than the 2024 787. The dev has admitted that they purposely disabled features loved by all for dumb philosophical reasons and without any good workaound. Very disappointing. I personally have disabled the 2024 787 and just play with the 2020 787.
Hi there just a quick question. I see that the Asobo 787-10 is now available for purchase on the marketplace and Iām curious, if I buy it on 2020 can I use it on 24? Or is it classed as a separate plane entirely? Really want to buy it in 2020 as its more stable for me at the moment but donāt really want to purchase it twice as I will eventually switch over to 24 and want to use the upgraded future version.
Right now if you buy it in 2020 you can use it (specifically the 2020 version) in 2024, however it has some pretty bad flight-breaking bugs that may occur.
I believe once the 2024 787 has been added to the 2024 Marketplace then owners of the 2020 787 will have access to the 2024 version as they do other 2020 Deluxe and Premium Deluxe aircraft that have 2024 equivalents ready.
I have done several flights with the 2024 787-10 and have not had a single systems issue with it. There are some external LOD issues that will get resolved over time, but other than that itās been great. Importing SimBrief via the EFB is very simple and entering in fuel and payload data via the CDU is easy and straightforward. I donāt miss the direct SimBrief integration whatsoever.
I have a lot of time in both the 2020 and 24 Dreamliners, although not much time in the late SU2 releases. The recent SimBrief app in the EFB is a god send, oh yes. But I do miss the parsimony of the 2020 implementation. Enough said.
What I REALLY miss is the Auto-complete checklists in 2020. Before 24, my go to airliner for a quick flight was the 787. Throw together a flight plan in SimBrief, jump in the left seat, and let the FO do all the busy work while I enjoy playing Captain!
Perhaps because of Career mode we will not likely see Auto-complete checklists ever again in 24. Oh well. When I want to do all the task work I can fly PMDG in 2020, and now the Max 8 in 24, which is turning out to be fairly good in recent weeks LOL! Itās all good, the right kind of problems to have, an abundance of choices for airliner models.
I wouldnāt think this is the cause, after all, theyāve shown they can manage to disable any number of functions in Career mode that work in Free Flight. I think this was either an oversight to not include in 2024 or the result of studying telemetry to see that the feature was not used frequently enough to justify the resources required to implement it.
Sounds like you are using it like a game. We as pilots care a lot about the integrity of how the routes are loaded. If you are not familiar, there are a lot of videos on YouTube with real pilots showing how routes are loaded. Definitely not via a EFB to the FMC.
I hated X-Plane for the same reason, the severly lack of integrity.
I hate to break it to you, but it is a game, especially if youāre just using default aircraft. Iām not having this debate with you or anyone else, have a great evening.
IMO they did a really good job of turning 2020 from a bit of a basket case into something really great. For me in many respects 2024 is already better ( I do really want my JF arrow and PMDG 737, but theyāll come), I realise thatās not true for everyone but at this stage Iām happy to give them the benefit of the doubt. I think theyāll fix it up and it will be great.
We should wish them fair winds and following seas, itās good for all of us for them to pull it off, a strong sim that works well for Xbox and PC has a much brighter future than one that only works on the top 10% of PCs.
I have also done several short flights with the Dreamliner in 2024 and have thought it was pretty nice and seemed quite functional. Definitely incorporating it into my go-to lineup of airplanes.
Yep - biggest thing itās lacking at the moment is community-made liveries. I donāt usually spend much time outside the aircraft so itās not a deal breaker for me, but would certainly be nice to have more 787-10 operators available beyond KLM and Korean Air Lines.
Wait, itās available on 2020? In 2024 it still isnāt
