ok, I’ve troubleshooted this like crazy today and determined that the engine malfunction starts with the engine starter. BUT only in some weather conditions. I’ve been trying to fly for 2 days from Visalia (KVIS) to Oakland (KOAK) and the real world weather has been low fog and vis in Visalia. That has resulted in a rapid deterioration of the engine when i turn on the starter…every time. If i turn the weather off of real time and make it clear - there is no problem after I reset the flight. So it’s something weather related with the starter. Current METAR for anyone who really knows the C208 - maybe there is a caveat in the flight manual about these conditions.?.
