It reacts very slow here…you need to set the altitude first, then click the alt button again and dial in an VS value.
But, as mentioned, the reaction is very slow.
I have the Problem, that the C-46 sometimes tips over to the the nose on the Runway during take off.

Apply some back pessure on the yoke when taking off, allow the tail to lift level, 1st notch of flaps set before TO roll. Trim to 1 - 1.2

There is a problem with the flight model, even with a tail heavy plane it still stays on the runway instead of taking off. It only takes off with unrealistic TO trim or a lot of back pressure - you can find a bug report I created to share your experience.

Agreed, back pressure is excessive but otherwise does T/O.
Well, this aircraft needs a ton, I mean a ton of fixing! L engine would not respond to my throttle adjustments after T/O and kept at full power, trying to slow it down to land was impossible oafter that, it just kept at full power, the L engine manifold needle kept going mad swinging left and right despite the external HUD saying both engines operating at the same RPM.
Needless to say, I had an unhappy landing with 1 engine at full power - she would not settle onto the runway and when we did of course we were going to go right whether I liked it or not.
AP would not follow HDG but did follow NAV.
I’m not sure who was the Dev for this “upgrade” but it sure was better in a 2020 cloak!

i just see in report bug page had 20 post and nothing works on this ADD-ON ! i have Hughes H4 and Focke Wulf 200 and they have issues to !!
In spite of the entered reports, I have no problems flying this aircraft.
Most of the reports are in regards to non prototype findings and graphics issues.
Everything seems to work well as is though.
If you are having issues, you should find out why.

Agree, supercharger is broken - it completely broke my L engine throttle management - see pics above where I could not slow down! This flew better in 2020 colours (in 2024)!
Did an entire flight with AP + GPS without issue.

I"ve done several and except for the superchargers (which i really didn’t need) I had no issues with the autopilot or the GPS.

becouse you probably started parked cold and dark start
the fact taht you dont need is already a problem(bug), this plane is mandatory to use superchrgers after x altitude, but manifold never goes down like IRL im using him in career, some airport doesnt support that size of plane, its a problem in carrer, they set missions in places they shouldnt for that plane, when that happens you spawn already set to take the runaway and fly, when that happens AP goes nuts, climbing like 2k feet per min and doesnt matter what you do in ap he will not stop, when that happens gps goes nuts too, sadly im not the only one having this issues, maybe its a CAREER mode related problem? i dont know
That could be, I’m strictly free flight, and I have done both starting from C&D as well as on the runway and have not had issues other than the superchargers.
With below 10000 feet for flights, I didn’t need them at all.

I felt like some of those bugs were pretty nit-picky and some weren’t even bugs… Like I have no graphical flickering on the wings - but there are some significant ones too. The night lighting doesn’t work properly.
Has anyone figured out how to light the center upper console so you can even fly at night?
How about the weird looking air speed indicators that turn an odd color with instrument lights. How about the instruments that don’t even light up.
These are pretty significant unless you only want to fly in daylight hours.

On top of the lights illuminating the panel poorly even though the bulbs look very bright, the windshield wipers also don’t work on the modern version, only in the military one

Unfortunately this aircraft finaly goes to the hangar.
We will never have a good C-46 in this sim.
