[MSFS2024] Diamond Aircraft DA40 NG

This is currently one of the leading training aircraft in Europe and it should be fixed with high priority. I’m confident in the team that it’ll happen soon enough but for now it’s simply unflyable :frowning:

Actually, that’s exactly how the real airplane taxis. ONLY toe brakes.

So people using just a controller are just not supposed to use this plane?

… or buy a suitable controller.

Can we agree on whether we want a game, using a gaming console/controller/toy, or something vaguely representing a simulation, using something that vaguely resembles aircraft controls?

You mean Microsoft can include a suitable controller at no extra charge to use the default aircraft if that’s the game they want to play (pun intended)?

And again, it’s only the one version of this one aircraft with this bug. The other DA40s and other normally freewheeling aircraft do not suffer this problem.

Just updated my mod with a FS24 version

Oh sweet. I’ll have to try this just for the nose wheel steering addition.

I saw mention of a fuel totalizer being added. What’s that?

Oh thank god! The default NGX was a disaster!

Bless you sir!

I created a bug report here with all the info that we posted:

There is already a poll for this

Mine is a bug report.

Absolute garbage ! Either not tested at all by Asobo scammers or they simply did not care and are laughing at us with our money.

I fly a DA40 NG for real, and the flight model on this FS24 version needs work. Obvious issues are the constant over revving, and braking performance that is so poor you need a huge runway to stop it. IRL I will keep the throttle around 65% in the cruise - that simply isn’t feasible here. Engine performance / RPM and braking ability are very inaccurate and ruin what should be a fun to fly aircraft.

Things I notice right off…

  • VR puts you in the back seat.
  • The RPM still constantly red lines.
  • The brakes barely work at all.
  • In VR at least, the windows have a weird lighting affect with the sun. At some angles it almost feels like you’re flying through heat waves or the northern lights. It’s distracting and blurs the outside a bit.

I just took this aircraft for a spin for the first time … and probably the last time. The constant redlining of the RPM is an annoyance, but worse: if had to fly the shallowest of approaches way below a standard glide slope to even land this thing. It just wouldn’t slow down at idle power, even with a nose up attitude and full flaps. No aircraft is that slippery.

As stated in an earlier post. The windshield has excessive glare (in VR) and it feels like constantly flying through fog or mist while the view out the side windows is clear.

Also, when doing a cold start up. When selecting the ELEC Master to ON, the PFD is supposed to come ON so you can see te engine instruments. Otherwise, when you start the engine, how to do you know if you have oil pressure and other advisories if the PFD doesn’t lit up ? Bravo ASOBO, once again, you outdone yourself in not knowing anything about airplanes.

This is my experience with the plane. It feels like even at idle and 5% load, there is too much power and Im really floating as its not slowing down.

After purchasing the excellent Cows DA40-XLS there really is no need to revisit this aircraft again. That one lands like a dream.
