MSFS2020 is unrecognizable now, when compared to its release state back in 2020 - all of the hard work to get it to where it is now, that’s what’s lying ahead for MS/Asobo and their partners. I’m confident it will get there! It’s the new platform.
I can’t imagine being a dev and staring at that workload while being yelled at by an entire community. Sending all the patient encouragement and kindness in the world to those who are so committed to delivering on this brand new sim.
It’s a bad experience right now, and the right people already know that. I want them to be excited to implement fixes and overhauls, as they have been for the past several years. We’re all in very good and capable hands. Time to cheer them on!
Yeah we went through the years of waiting for 2020 to become what we wanted and even then some things got worse and some promised things never arrived. I’m not waiting years again in a new sim that in almost every aspect has gone backwards from what we had.
Finally got 2024 to work today. I gave up on FS2020 a couple years ago, and went back to X-Plane. But I will use both now after seeing 2024 fired up. When they squash the bugs it is going to be quite the sim I think.
This could not have been said better, well done @Red81Trekker ! Nice to a see a realistic yet supportive post that is optimistic for the MSFS 2024 near future. No one plans for a dodgy rollout, but they are doing everything they can. Everyone just needs to calm their jets (see what I did there?) and let the devs take care of it - they’re on top of it, just like they have been for the past 4 years.
The rollout of the new sim has been, and there is really no way to sugar coat this, an epic fail. But to say that it is worse than it’s predecessor in every way is clearly wrong. By any objective measure 2024 is at least the equal of 2020 in almost every way and a clear improvement in many areas both cosmetic and systems.
There is a very small, but very loud cadre that will never see this sim as anything other than an arcade game and we should all try to not let them spoil our appreciation of what must be described by any reasonable person as a technological tour de force…
2024 may look better to certain people but the interface is less usable. You can’t tell me it’s better that you can only see two or is it three liveries while choosing them?
