No and yes! But I just tried again and it all worked. I really have no idea what happened but I must have been doing something wrong. Or maybe I overprimed?
Thanks for your help!

Does anyone understand how the fuel system works? It looks like there’s a reserve tank, but there are only three tanks shown in the EFB and the middle tank has less fuel than the left and right. So is there a tank missing? I don’t think the center fuel line leads to the reserve since the middle engine dies if you shut it off. And there’s a separate reserve tank switch behind the pilot.
EDIT: The middle tank is the reserve and I think the middle engine draws fuel from both main tanks based on my testing in flight
It’s so nice to see Microsoft and iniBuilds saving all these classic aircraft from aeroplane hell.
And Career mode support, too! Finally the simulator starts to feel more fleshed out in this regard.
Does anyone notice a clicking sound when changing fuel tanks? For instance, if I put the reserve tank on and the right engine to “tank off”, there’s a persistent clicking sound until I turn the left engine to “tank off” as well. I’m wondering if it has something to do with an uneven crossfeed?
When I want to use the reserve tank first, I turn that on and then put right and left engines to “tank off” which I’m guessing is the correct procedure. Whereas the “engine off” settings would be used during shut down. Not sure about the “equalizer off” setting.
Uuuuh…very lean update…at least, it destroyed nothing…no one bothered with the existing sounds of noexisting proplevers or any detail improvement at all…glad, I liked the plane in its former state, it hasn’t changed that much.
Still flares like a glider on touchdown.
I did a few test flights with the aircraft. It looks much better than before, the cockpit finally doesn’t have that cartoony, non-shaded look that is so typical of the previous developers. That said, I regret to see that it didn’t get the full iniBuilds treatment, some of the cockpit textures, especially the windshield frames, are still very low quality and blurry.
I like the overall handling, it’s very stable in the air, a joy to fly low and slow while also feeling the weight of it. Takeoffs and landings are no problem at all. Very gentle. I looked up a few numbers, I don’t think the simulation is fully accurate but close enough, I can cruise at around 90 kts with 1600 rpm at 5-6000 ft. I don’t know if the aircraft can actually reach its ceiling, or even 10,000 ft, to me it felt like struggling very much. The engines seem to lose too much performance with altitude.
Engine sounds are awesome, at least in the external view it’s a joy. The overall vibe is better than before, not revolutionary but definitely an improvement. So much so that I’m now considering getting it in Career mode and running charters in Africa or some exotic place. Much fun!
I can remember trying to start a round the world trip in this thing in FS2004 lol, then FSX came out so that got canned. I think the time has come to try again!
Lots of historic air routes for this. Passengers would fly during the day, get on trains at night, then switch back to the trimotor during the day. You could cross the country in 48 hours.
Are you trying to get the sim canned?? ![]()
Does anybody know if it is working in career mode? It should have career mode support now but if you go into the employee section and select the Ford Trimotor in the filters it is not generating any jobs for it.
I haven’t tried it yet but I have a hunch that Career mode will not generate employee missions for this aircraft since it’s technically a separate add-on. It’s probably only usable in Freelance mode after you purchase it.
I almost exclusively use “separate add-on” aircraft in Career mode in both Employee and Freelance modes, so this wouldn’t be a factor.
EDIT: I maybe misread your response, but yes - like any other aircraft it would only be usable in Freelance mode once you’ve purchased it for the corresponding company.
Add on aircraft do show up in employee mode. I have several. I only play employee mode because I use it as a mission generator and have no interest in grinding or the economics of career mode.
