MSFS2024: Options Menu Missing After Launch — Only Limited Settings Available

’m having a persistent UI issue in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 where the Options menu never appears on the home screen. I only get a very limited settings panel (the small gear icon), and I cannot access:

  • General Options

  • User Experience

  • Graphics

  • Controls

  • Accessibility

  • Interface Mode

This makes it impossible to switch the sim to Standard Interface Mode, and I’m stuck with a restricted UI.

What I see:

  • Home screen loads normally (World Photographer, Activities, Marketplace, etc.)

  • Bottom‑left corner is missing the Options button

  • Only the small gear icon appears, which opens a very limited settings panel

  • No way to access the full settings menu

What I’ve already tried:

  • Full app reset through Windows Settings → Apps → MSFS → Advanced Options → Reset

  • Restarting the sim multiple times

  • Reinstalling MSFS2024 completely

  • Ensuring I select “Start” (not Accessibility) on first launch

  • Confirmed no cloud‑sync conflicts

  • Tried launching with no add‑ons

Even after a full reinstall, the Options button still does not appear.

System Info:

  • MSFS2024 (Microsoft Store version)

  • Windows 11

  • No add‑ons installed after reinstall

What I need help with:

How can I restore the full Options menu on the home screen?
Is this a known UI shell issue or a corrupted profile problem that persists even after reinstall?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

To better understand the issue, please add screenshots showing the UI problem.

I hope this is posted in the correct section. Based on a description of my FS24 World Map screen, I described to CoPilot, it says I do not have the Full UI version. How do you get this? For one thing CoPilot says if I click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the World Map this should take me to the Full World Map UI that includes: Aircraft tile, Flight Conditions, Fuel & Weight, Navlog, ATC, EFB app bar, Gear icon that opens World Map Options, Load/Save Flight Plan menu, Simbrief import, Full toolbar across the top. It says this mode only loads when you enter via the top navigation bar on the Home Screen, which I do not have. I see nothing like this. CoPilot says using the Full UI Mode World Map makes loading pre-planned IFR/VFR flights more accurate and easier to set up, whether pre-planned on-line (Simbrief or MS Flight Planner) or via in-game EFB or the LittleNavMap app. What the heck is it talking about? My World Map is identical to my friend’s World Map. Do we both have the incorrect UI?

You should post a screenshot here and we can help you. I wouldn’t trust Copilot on anything at all.

  1. worked with co-pilot to troubleshoot. here is a link to a copy of that conversation.

Per your screenshots you seems to have all options available, which ones do you think are missing/limited ?

I can see that nothing is missing here - everything looks fine. The options menu is working as intended.

If you want more graphics settings, go to the Graphics settings and click on “Global Rendering Quality”. Once you expand it, you’ll see additional graphical options available.
