[MSFS2024] Pilatus PC-12 NGX

I did not see a MSFS 2024 Sim manual. All for the real PC 12/24. Not even a full operating manual for real craft, mostly advisories, unless I just did not see it.

It’s there. Sort by PC-12 then by Flight Manuals.

It’s called the PIM Pilot’s Information Manual.

You’re specifically looking for the one dated 2023-04-23 ā€œPC-12 PIM MSN 2001 and Upā€

FAb, thanks for telling me. I’ll have a look

This is strange cause I’m getting completely different performance than what you’re describing. It flies like it should in terms on how I fly it IRL. changing the info in the MFD doesnt affect how the plane flies, thats all based on the efb.

With two crew under 400 lbs, 100 lbs cargo and a full bag of gas, what is your T/O distance at ISA and what Climb Rate are you getting under 10,000 at FLC (130 knots)?

ground roll was just under 2000 at MBGT with temp at 23 C and weight like you said. climbing at over 2000 FPM all the way to 10000, i usually do 170 so the deck angle isnt so high and you get roughly 1500 fpm to the mid teens.

Yeah, something’s going on with my setup then. Thanks!

Check out that VV. I dunno. There’s something going on here. Performance is totally in the toilet.

Ah, I figured it out. Looking at our screens, something was holding the prop RPM to below or at 1000. Low Prop Setting was ON the whole time. I’m like where the heck is that annunciator? The Button’s Backlighting doesn’t work.

ahh glad you got it figured out. That’s weird though cause Prop low speed should hold the rpm at 1550 but i guess that’s another thing Carenado needs to fix lol. Prop Low Speed is not worth using tbh.

I didn’t even know it was on. After a thorough scouring of the NGX PIM and re-reading the PIREPs, it just hit me at that point. Your screenshot with the higher RPMs was the icing.

Could you please share a screenshot of your whole configuration in Axis and Ohs for this control please? I’m trying to get it built in Mobiflight but I’m missing some information apparently. Thanks.

This happened to me recently also and (on PC) I figured out that you can use RightAlt + click to open the MFD as an external window and even though it is blacked out in the plane I was able to see the fuel info (I was worried I was going to run out). This was on SU2 latest beta also so this blank MFD bug still happens – they are aware.

Wow, thanks, this has happened to me too.

I tried using Vertical Direct To yesterday for the first time. It was greyed out and unusable. Is this just the way it is or am I doing something wrong?

This keeps getting weirder and weirder.

So, if you see my saga above, I had the issue randomly appear after flying this plane for hours and hours, and it only resolved after completely nuking my entire install and career and restarting.

Well, tonight I had it happen again. Only, it wasn’t exactly the same. It was more what some other folks have described; fewer or no Np messages, but still incredibly slugging performance and terrible TO roll.

Well, I managed to get it airborne and in stable flight with AP, so I started playing around. I observed that my Np was consistently below 1000. I also observed that, if I hit the Prop Low Speed button, Np would surge briefly above 1000 (giving me a boost of power too), and then fall back down. Oddly it did this whether enabling or disabling low speed mode.

I usually fly the PC-12 with the prop speed and mixture levers on my throttle quadrant all the way down, so on a lark I pushed the prop speed lever all the way to the top. This gave me a slight increase of Np above 1000, but still not normal performance.

But then, with the prop speed lever all the way forward, I enabled prop low speed. Suddenly my Np surged to 1500 and stayed there. This is a magic number, I thought, so I disabled low speed mode again, and presto! Np = 1707 now in cruise.

What do you all think of that?

Edit: Second flight, started with prop speed lever all the way forward (if that matters???) went fine.

Well, for starters, I’d disable Prop and Mix in the PC-12 specific controls. There’s no telling what a particular control will or won’t do in a given aircraft in '24. Especially if that function is supposedly embedded in the FADEC.

You may also find that enabling Reverse Thrust (which is the only way to get ā€œBetaā€ config) and then coming out of that mode can sometimes result in Low Speed Prop Mode. That just means keeping one steady eye on Np.

Carenado probably didn’t test all these configs and use cases against the FADEC model they built. Hence why they’re coming out here in RTM use.

:eyes: I fly PC-12 a lot. One of my go to aircraft. Have no issues with it other than pressurisation and that’s fixed on PC using the well known mod.

Never touch prop speed or mixture settings. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well I didn’t touch them either, because they shouldn’t matter. But apparently they can?

Not touching them is not the same as being in a certain axis position - which eventually feeds back into the sim and exerts an out of bounds condition. Hence disabling them all but guarantees that behavior can’t happen, at least with that set of hardware controls. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
