Heartwarming hello to the community!
I am almost certain many users will definitely support my thought here. Due to how well MSFS2020 was working I was quite sure that 2024 would be working out just fine at the day of release - maybe a few minor issues, but that‘s what you take if you want to play day one, right?
We all know the issues, and as frustrating as it was, not being able to start up the simulator on the first day could be excused, probably even Microsoft/Asobo were overwhelmed with how many people wanted to try it, keeping in mind that not only people who bought MSFS wanted to use it, but also gamepass members.
Frustration was rising at the point when I realised it wasn‘t a day one issue but a week one issue. But well, forgiven forgotten, we can finally get into the game and have a good time! If there weren‘t the sound issues in career mode, somehow worse graphics than in 2020 (even with 1000mbit/s download), multiple other bugs (why the h does the 172 close the fuel shutoff valve when I touchdown?), not being able to bind the camera to the mouse in a logical way, aircraft not loading, you name it, we all know the trouble at this point.
I am not even saying I am disappointed on how this game was released, I am by far more disappointed that they will probably take another 3 months to make it enjoyable - whereas at that time, you will probably be able to buy it for 30% less than what we have paid to preorder or buy at launch, just to be able to really enjoy it with all others who will get it cheaper.
People have paid between 80 and 220$ for what? Going back to 2020 until 2024 is finally playable?
To be fair, I am not even ranting about developers, but about the decision makers here to not delay the game - and somehow it didn‘t really improve for the past (almost) 3 weeks.
So what would be an appropriate compensation for the people who bought the game with high hopes and trust in the studios to fix the issues fast and did not return it back? We all know we won‘t get the money back anymore, not even partly. What would be appropriate? What about a certain amount of marketplace points to buy extra content (as soon as that works, haha). Maybe free access to certain further Microsoft ‚own‘ marketplace developments? Whatever it is, let‘s go for possible compensations in this topic!
Looking forward to the suggestions, have a nice day!
It may not be considered by all to be fair compensation, but they are going to release the first 4 famous flyer/local legend aircraft for free for everyone, which is a USD$60 value (or $40 with Premium Deluxe discounts, I suppose.) I’m personally happy with this as I am really looking forward to the 185 especially.
I was lucky to have a promo code from Nvidia for a free 1 month of pc game pass, so I have being able to “play” and test it before actually paying anything. I will definitively buy it, sure, but at least I feel “less scammed” that those of you who paid full price on release on preorder. You guys do deserve compensation
This is a fair point and one that I share. I’m honestly pretty happy with the core sim when it works which has been most of the time lately, but sad that there is no Marketplace, that I can’t use my own planes in career, that many planes I own don’t work (not third party even, some of the local legends and famous flyers are even broken.) So many of the things that are broken are just so strange. All of the aircraft that appear as variants of other aircraft, many not having proper walkaround features yet. It’s been beaten to death so I don’t mean to pile on, but it definitely needed another ~3 months of work, I agree. So I think come March, this sim will feel more worth the money. That said, I again am still able to have a lot of fun and seeing when aircraft I own become compatible is exciting in a way, so I’m not angry, just a bit disappointed with the unknown wait time for V1 of this exciting sim to arrive.
It is a step in the right direction, for sure - but is it really fair to compensate the ones that paid more for the game less than the ones who bought the cheaper version? I really doubt it. But, again, it is going in the right direction.
Lucky you! I usually get the gp as well to ‚test‘ the game, especially because in most cases you will get a discount if you buy it during your gamepass subscription. But in this special case I trusted in MS/Asobo. Well, we know how that ended though ^^
As @Stardrifter2232 mentioned, Jorg address this question at the last developer stream - the next four aircraft will be free (Famous Flyer 11: Cessna 185F, Local Legend 20: Cap-4 Paulistinha, plus 2 others):
No one forced the developing studios to release an unfinished game, either. We are not talking about small stuff (like I previously mentioned, I think about everyone knew a few bugs were to be expected), but first ‚mission‘ in career mode and the AC doesn‘t have engine sounds? Come on.
I strongly suspect Microsoft forced Asobo to release. This would likely never be confirmed, and it’s just my personal opinion, but I don’t think that Asobo would have released the sim in this state if they didn’t have to. Corporate deadlines are brutal.
I’ve been playing (Free Flight) since day 2 of launch nearly bug free. My biggest complaint would be the lack of exterior lighting on most aircraft.
I pre purchased MSFS 2024 because I am a fan of Asobo and the work they do with MSFS. And I have faith that they will continue to improve MSFS 2024. I’m in it for the long haul! Thats kinda what keeps me playing is seeing what improvements Asobo makes with MSFS.
After playing MSFS 2024 there is no going back to 2020 for me. The flight model is just too good! The transition from ground to air and from air to ground (beautiful)!
It’s normal to have a finished game day one, if It’s not finished they had to call that an early access, some ppl paid more than 200, and it was not supposed to be an early access or a beta
When you pay 120 more than standard edition to have more planes and most of them are not usable it’s really a shame
I enjoy the game (because I know 95% will be fix in few month, and for me carreer potential is huge) and I still support dev, but launch was a disaster, I don’t understand that they didn’t delay it or plan a public beta until it’s ready, they knew few month ago it will not be ready on time, why they didn’t learn from other disasters launch ? (there was a lot in the past years)
I am astonished many people are flying with no issues apparently. One of the single worst things (for me) is not being able to properly get the mouse binded to the camera controls.
I am using a HOTAS and a hand held keyboard and mouse combo (which was absolutely awesome in 2020, radio controls via keyboard and camera/ cockpit switches controls via touchpad mouse). Camera doesn‘t work anymore in any way, as soon as I try to look around, the camera simply goes full speed in any direction. This alone makes it unplayable. Probably depends on what one expects?
No issues with controls here once I had cleared the presets and then set up my own. Had yet another wonderful issue free day of flying. No compensation required.
I have a feeling that the world has changed even since MSFS 2020 was released and people’s expectations and sense of entitlement has skyrocketed since then. That release was also problematic but I don’t remember the outrage and silly demands we are seeing now.
Speaking for myself I was able to start the sim on the afternoon of the first day.
Why do we need another thread regarding compensation? It’s NOT going to happen other than the free aircraft. I do not want or expect compensation. I want the developers to focus on the game and they all have my full support from Jorg on down.
In my opinion 24 blows away 20 in many ways. Sure it needs a lot of work but it’s useable at least in free flight, and a patch will be released regarding some bugs including bugs in career mode next week.
I don’t know if you watched the twitch stream but I did…all of it. I am totally convinced Jorg feels bad about the launch and things will get better.
