People keep writing that but I don’t quite believe it. I do believe that functions associated with SAS are optional. And maybe that would include beep trim (hat trim). But a workhorse turbine helicopter needs force trim to allow the pilot to occasionally free his/her cyclic hand and reduce fatigue.
I’ve flown the R44 quite a bit but not the R66. It, the -44, has no trim of course. It would be cruel in the extreme to try to simulate it without trim. I’m am grateful that allowances were made here.
