Thanks, I’ll check on the next flight. I’m actually flying on the 2020 (activities Orbetello- Chicago —leg 1 from Orbetello to Amsterdam). Alt Hold and Heading Hold is not working here. I must use the pitch trim and manualle keep on track. If I ever reach Amsterdam I’ll stop there my trans-atlantic flight..haha.
In my flights so far in the S.55, I’ve found it very easy to trim the aircraft for level flight, though the live weather has been good so far, with only light (less than 15 knot) winds. One does need to re-trim every so often, but I can leave the sim & head to the kitchen to make some coffee and / or sandwich and return 5 minutes later & the aircraft is still flying, and roughly on track - and not with its’ nose buried in the ground, or resting on the bottom of the sea!
It always slipped over to the left for me in 2020. It was basically unusable until now for me. But it works lovely with the auto pilot!
Update : I resumed the “Activity” in FS2020 and now it’s clear to me what was going on . I can confirm that ALT HOLD and HDG HOLD are working fine also in the “FS2020 Activity” section and is more than enough for short flights (let’s say within 2 hours).
For longer flights such as the cross Atlantic route the manual handling problem remains. This is due to the fact that ,despite the Hdg Hold is working,… there is the side wind effect that makes the plane drifting right/left out of the planned route. So quite often (every 3-5 minutes max) you need to change the Heading in order to re-center to the route. On long leg flights that means you must be glued to the chair and continuously make hdg corrections. Very realistic if you have a couple of co-pilots..
In addition to that, in the "Activity " flight I am doing ,the “weather” is preset. All the options are greyed and you cannot make any change to it. So no chances to reduce the wind to zero to avoid the drifting.
BTW…with the latest up-grades…the S55X is very enjoyable to fly. Thanks Ramasurinen !!
