MSFS2024 - Server Connection is absolutely unstable

(for me it seems to be SOLVED, see below in this post)

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Same issue since today after update to 1.2.7.0. Even with 1.1.10.0 I was not able to fly normally in free flight or career without several “bandwidth too low” message as in screenshots above. EFB, plane livery, flight plan very slow loading.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Location Germany / Telekom 50 Mbit /sec download and 20 MBit / sec upload connection. Every other application works just fine and no problems to get 7 MByte / sec download in Steam.
• to be even more specific: its Western Germany, Ruhrgebiet. That may be actually a criterion for Microsoft cloud to spread load across backbones.

• Did a reinstallation of the sim once in drive C (did not help). The community folder is also empty. No 3rd party addons are in use.

• Because the world out there seems to not encounter the bug, I will now try to delete the MSFS 2020, because it was installed from a CD version and started from Microsoft store and not (as my MSFS 2024) from Steam to avoid weired interferences [later I tried without FS 2020 on the system, did not help]).

• BUG TOPIC SOLVED FOR ME (WORK-AROUND):
The bug as being really Telekom dependent is described here:

The work-around that helped me, was described there in post #100:

(it helped sustainably, on 4 week evenings and 1 weekend evening)

Here’s my work-around configuration:

PC, per LAN cable connected to Fritzbox 7690, 50 Mbit Telekom
DNS-settings in PC network settings: automatic
DNS-settings in Fritzbox:
primary IPV4: 1.1.1.1
secondary 1.0.0.1
primary IPV6: 2606:4700:4700::1111
secondary IPV6: 2606:4700:4700::1001

[edited: restructured confusing first structure  ]
[edited: added “to be even more specific” paragraph ]
[edited: added “did not help” to FS 2020 paragraph ]
[edited: added “solved for me” paragraph ]

Same Here, I am trying to so the Heavy Cargo Lifting Operation now for an hour. I am in 500MBit Fiber.
Germany.

I haven’t got much Time because I Work quite Long and this is really making the Game useless again for me.

And this is Happening alot but only with this Game.

Is streaming the Patches overloading the Servers already???

If I browse through this thread, a lot of Telekom customers in Germany seem to have this problem. Just a coincidence?
I am also Telekom customer in Germany

Also on Telekom Here.

But Speedtests Show full Speed Low Ping and No loss

Telekom has approx. 40% market of broadband in Germany, so many Telekom users from Germany maybe as expected?

[added later:] It is really Telekom dependent, see my SOLVED FOR ME post in this thread and
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/low-bandwidth-issues-with-telekom-germany-only/676048

[edited: added “in Germany” and “from Germany”]

I’m not insinuating Telekom doesn’t no their business or provide a bad network connection. My connection works just fine everywhere outside Microsofts MSFS CDN. All I’m saying is, there might be an issue with Microsoft’s CDN connecting to Telekom’s network.

Or it might all just be a coincidence.

I mean, I’m not on telekom, and i still get this issue constantly. Since 14:15 UTC+1, all the way until now.
This game is honestly a barely functioning prototype when it comes to the basic functions of any game, the most important one being actually loading into the game in a sensible timeframe. I say this coming from an ancient PC that took 5-10 Minutes to load into MSFS 2020 Main Menu, so my patience is high as is.

Same location and provider. Also no issues outside of MSFS2024. Win11 though.

Getting a low bandwidth warning 7 out of 10 times. In addition, seemingly connection issue warnings for live weather and live traffic, both 9 out of 10 times.

that is about when my not loading started, first not getting into any free flight, just stuck at “the circle”, litlle later even the whole 2024 did not load anymore, being stuck at around 96/97% load time. opened a ticket and they replied I shall 1) deactivate Community and 2) delete streamed packages and 3) sync my PC time. Did that and now after I loaded I see a 7% VFS Activating packages message … since about 10mins already. will see how that turns out

Where is it even possible to put in a ticket but here? I am really inclined to put up a few.

Edit: NVM, found it.

The low Bandwith is definitly on Server side.
I’m also a Telekom Customer and located in Germany. I started palying today in the morning and everything was fine. Quick loading times and Bandwith up to 330Mbit/s. Planes and Photogrammetry loaded fine and quick.

Round about 3 pm today, loading times became very long. Had around 5-10 Mbit/s. Right now it’s round about 1Mbit and unplayable.

Nobody can tell me, the fault is on the Provider side.

It’s an absolute mess. When i release a cloud game, i gotta be sure that the server capacity is well designed and it is definitly not.

I cannot play for 3 consecutive days now. It start and then low bandwidth message.
Worst experience ever with MSFS.

same here. after >10 mins still 7% VFS Activating packages… Network monitor shows some whopping 200kbit to max 1Mbit/s download activity. this cannot be on a 100MBit/s line when at the same time appleTV streams HD at up to 14Mbit at the same time. MUST be a server issue

I switched my DNS Servers on my Router from Google (8.8.8.8) to the Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) ones and it seems to work way better.
We’ll see if it’s stable.

•
Yes, tried various DNS settings on the router, reboots, whatsoever, no success, all snakeoil. Failure rate stays at 7/10.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
•
600 MBit Telekom fiber connection close to Frankfurt. In 7 out of 10 flights get “Bandwidth too low”.
If running through a VPN to AWS/Ohio I have up 150 MBit net and performance is good.

In my case I had a volotea-livery from 2021 for the fbw320 in the Community folder and I couldn’t start any free flight. After moving this livery outside the FS starts quick and every free flight also. For me: solved.

Do you have Fibre or Cable? Their topology is different and Cable may not fit a continuous high streaming demand (as you basically share bandwith with all those connected in your area).

I have cable, but since streaming works everywhere else, my download speed is exactly what I pay for and in general the issue only occurs for MSFS24, it must be an issue with MSFS24. Any other explanation is contradicted by the evident operability of any other application I run that is using my network with continuous high demand.
Exemplary, having a netflix stream running at the same time as a game download on steam and simultaneously playing a multiplayer game while also being on a discord call with a stream running and open as a load test, I had no issue occurring at all.

netflix is using UDP which means it just sends out the data without checking whether the package arrived. Which is logical as even if the package did not arrive, a new image is already on it’s way. If you send out datafiles that need to be in tact for local processing, you need something like TCP which does check whether the package did arrive correctly. The latter uses multiple back and forthgoing packets and thus load the network path completely different.
And i just wonder whether Asobo really tested this in their software ( i bet not as software devs dont learn about networking normally) and they fell into the trap they created themselves. Which also means it will never ever work in your case…

I have also issues with Telekom in Germany. The fiber connection is not utilized.
Switching DNS from Google to Cloudflare or to Telekom did not really improve the situation (Microsoft Dez. 2024-Patchday: Langsame Downlods/Webseiten; wer/was ist schuld?Borns IT- und Windows-Blog).
