this is my first post, I hope it is in the right place. If not, just let me know.
Some of my points can also be derived as a success factor for sales from other successful games (for example Eurotruck Simulator or Farming Simulator). Therefore, I think that could/should be intresting for the team around MSFS24.
Back then, FSPassangers did a great job. Here are some of the points that I would like to have as an Xbox player or casual Gamer.
Career Start
There should be several options here. Do I want “infinite money” or do want to go a hard way, do I want to be able to fly with any aircraft, how difficult should it be to make progress. (The player should be able to make his one dissusions, everyone has different wishes/ideas)
Content
Everything that your trailer showed should be executable from any place in the world. That means missions/orders must be able to be generated generically. I want to fulfill missions from my home heliport/airport or any place i want.
A money system that compensates flights and with which things can be bought for the players company. Maybe things like heliports & hospitals should be placed freely in the world, as there are too few of them for Xbox players in MSFS20.
Economic system: in order to operate flights economically, there should be three simple values by which the number of passengers/cargo income is measured overall. Service quality, ticket prices, marketing/trust. The first two values should be adjustable by the player. Service quality: How well should the flying personnel be trained? How good should the food be? and similar questions. Ticket price: This is self-explanatory. If the price fits the location and the trust in the company is high, the demand is high and the plane is full. The value marketing/trust: should be derived from the last flights. Was there a stall or overspeed warning? was the plane damaged or has crashed? how good was the landing (rating system from the landing challenges), was the flight on time and at the right airport.
Fleet management: Players should be able to buy and maintain Planes. Aircraft from the marketplace should also be usable in Carrer mode. Furthermore, there should be the possibility to deploy AI crews. The location of an aircraft is always the endpoint from the last flight. Teleportation to another airport is possible for a fee.
Immersion: I would appreciate cabin announcements (in different languages), the allocation of food (which leads to money) & other services provied by the Crew, seat belt & unfasten signs. Also for other activities, a coordination with hospitals/fire departments would be great. This simply gives the whole thing a much better immersion.
Multiplayer
Friends should be allowed to fly for your Company, if you like.
Hi, I find the idea of a career intriguing but with one caveat; Should the Devs leave it up to the community modders?
I ask that because there are already many very good career style programs and Asobo have not done this for MSFS, would their rendition be any better? Will it be very basic? Will it be like other features and not fully integrated properly?
This is indeed a game mode, that personally I feel they are better off leaving to more established developers. If the current Sim has taught us anything it’s that Asobo need to concentrate more on making sure the core of the Sim works correctly, than adding new game play modes that may be very hit and miss. So they either go full in on a career mode and from from the very start, or simply not at all.
Thanks
i see your point. But the Trailer shows that Asobo focus is on the carrer aspect. The immersion of a job as pilot will be improved. After all, you should even be able to walk around.
Also, don’t forget that none of the previous providers offer a solution for the Xbox. Here Asobo has to offer something to increase the average playing time of the players.
I’m sure this was posted here before, back from June, really good interview to read, has some info about career in 2024 like this part.
Vasco:So can we expect a more realistic engine simulation, where the user has to pay attention to temperatures, etc?
Sebastian: Yes, that’s kind of it.
Jorg: If you’re overstressing the engine, it can catch fire. Some people have done that already. If you don’t pay attention to the oil levels, you can have a fire. It’s directly related to the activity system and simulating real life. You can own your own aircraft, at which point it’s like owning a taxi. You have to service your own taxi. You have to check the oil and make sure everything is in order. You can also choose to work for someone else and just take a job, at which point the company takes care of it. That’s the whole point of this, right? Let’s make it as real as we possibly can.
Vasco: So it’s sort of like a career mode?
Jorg: It’s exactly that. We’ll talk about that more in-depth at a later point in time because it’s a very wide field, but our attempt is to be as close to what is possible in the real world. So if you can imagine how a career in aviation can go in the real world, it’s similar for us. It’s how people found their own companies and stuff like that.
Vasco:It’s that idea of finding a purpose…
Jorg: Exactly. I always said I wanted to run a helicopter company in Hawaii flying tourists. Well, you know, I want to do something in New Zealand and you can do that.
omg, the keyboard was probably faster than my brain. I’ve corrected it, thanks for the hint. Of course I meant the farming simulator, which is selling well, at least in Germany.
