Much longer load times

After update to 1.6.16.0 MSFS2024 is loading like twice longer than before, from desktop to menu and from menu to aircraft spawn.

Agree with the above.

Interesting.

Two builds ago (.13?) I noted longer load times.

These last two have been back to being as fast as I was used to seeing.

For me it is not only loading longer than usual - I solved this changing my DNS to Google Public DNC (without this I can not go after 2% and even I am not able to go back to SU3 - the Sim does not load being stack on those 2%, sometimes it stops loading at 90 something %). It is also that scenery, traffic, marketplace do not load. Even scenery from community does not load, and if I managed to load somewhere after waiting for 30 min at those rotating ring in the right low corner am not able to start a second flight as the game simply does not activate the selected airport - gates non-available.

I can play only at about 01 am UTC and few hours later - everything loads fine that time.

For the rest of time…

Something is wrong with their servers and they do not see this. Or something is wrong on our side and our providers do not tell us (mine swears that they do not block MSFS and all the game services).

For me it looks like they have done something to servers and online services that works amazingly good when it works but unfortunately for some of us it does not work at all or works slowly.

Whilst not ruling a server issue out, there are - if I remember correctly - a different server network for beta than for live. If this is the case then what you are talking about is issues across two server networks that nobody else has found yet.

This would seem to suggest something peculiar to your setup. Either your PC or your something at your ISP end.

@CommonBloom31
Have you used the Azure Speed Test to see what the latency is to their servers?

Latency 80-120, AWS 120-176 now

That’s pretty high, IMO. I’m seeing ~ 42 median to my local Azure server, and that’s over a satellite connection.

This has struck me.

I would usually load in just at the end of the Airbus sequence or slightly into the medical rescue. Now, I’m nearly seeing the entire loading video before I see Start. That is a very significant change in loading time.

This changed with .19, which I did an uninstall/install for when it was released (as I do with every build). I was not seeing this in the prior build.

Could this be connected to PS5 beta tests? If they reoriented some servers… from SU4 Beta channels?

As Alice said: curiouser and curiouser. MSFS2024 has always been reasonably quick to start for me compared to 2020. In SU4 Beta it is the best it has ever been for me. Start consistently comes up in just under a minute, towards the end of the opening Red Bull flight. I typically don’t have a lot in my Community folder (e.g. Bijan, one or two aircraft, couple liveries, no airports) but if I have for instance FSLTL models enabled, it runs partly into the Airbus sequence. It certainly hasn’t gotten worse since the PS5 beta. All this on first load since computer restart, subsequent starts before I restart my PC are even quicker.

For whatever that is worth…

It’s weird. .13 was slow for me (not as slow as .19) and all the rest have been their usual quick.

It’s really weird, to me, especially since I do a fresh uninstall/install each time.

In my case even a fresh install did not help until I manually deleted the streamed content and changed my DNS settings to Google ones.

.21 continues .19’s significantly longer load time for me.

Weird.

In the interest of science, I deleted my Content.xml file and allowed the sim to generate a new default one. The faster load time remains even after reconfiguring my content load.

This sped up the loading process a fair amount, but where the time is still being lost (as compared to earlier builds of SU4) is during the “loading world data” step. This continues to be significantly longer than with earlier builds.
