for me it looks like they have manage to make all the different avatar option working. Soo…!..?
Good. I haven’t done multi-player yet in FS24. I guess I assumed that if model matching wasn’t there yet, then avaters weren’t either. Progress?
So over seeing the generic airbus doing aerobatics worse when I’m normally steaming the addon that’s being used as well sometimes even flying the same variant with the same number so same livery
The model matching is so hit and miss at my local airport NZCH get generic livery a320s and atr72s yet the game has Air New Zealand liveries like pretty much every plane on the ground at the terminal should be one of them atrs next to domestic terminal near runway 29
And the a320s and 737 etc go runway 20 side of the terminal military stuff goes another area we have an areo club on the far side that is a flight school that teaches off the grass strip
Then the 2 helicopter areas one next to the Aero club mainly g2 and small helis
Other one sits basically at the start of runway 02 is where the rescue helis leave from most turbine powered ones as well we have alot of h125/as350 also at this area is private jet parking and the flying doctor service planes hanger
Reason behind me saying all of that is I see atrs going to wrong parks same with the a320s sometimes a jst457(example) is a Jetstar a320 it should be next to the terminal not over in a GA park next to the Aero club
Other airlines that come here are
United (pretty sure an A350 normally)
Quantas
Jetstar
Singapore (A350)
Cathay Pacific
Emirates (A380)
There will be a few others as well most these companies have the liveries there yet I’m seeing generic planes it’s an immersion breaker
Also at this same airport we get c17s and c130s landing and taking off for the American Antarctic Program these planes never show up in game yet I can see them on flight rader or the asdb viewer so they are squawking and talking at those times but never in the live traffic
I’d already be happy if model matching would work reliably on the level of:
- Undercarriage configuration (tail dragger/non tail dragger)
- Number of engines 1, 2, 3 or 4+
- Type of engine (prop versus jet)
- Seaplane
- Rotorcraft (please also display AirlandFS craft as rotorcraft)
That amounts to 2 * 4 * 2 * 2 possible combinations e.g. 32 base models plus one for rotorcraft.
The aircraft.cfg file could contain this information and the sim simply picks the model at hand that matches the most criteria. How difficult could it be?
I understand there are people who are looking for even more realism but at least using this method the models displayed don’t have to be streamed and the solution would be easy to implement.
Adding to this coz you have a point
Ga
Airline
Fighter
Helicopter
Needs to be at least those as a category too so we get right size shapes
I realize the utility below does not address the op’s question/request but since it’s related to this issue I thought it would be interesting for some of us:
https://flightsim.to/file/59353/multiplayer-model-matching-m3
Sadly only works properly with 2020 and will not be updated for 2024, per the authors.
It is kind of boring when I buy an airplane, that my friend does not have, and he will not be able to see it when we fly together.
Request for the ability to stream/download an “external version” suited for visualization during flight.
This could be achieved by creating an option called “show friends airplanes” and of course a friends list created somewhere.
The sad thing is there’s plenty of games out there that will show you a mod even if you don’t own it carx for example with that one
Also if everything streams in the marketplace anyway it should just access that to stream it in correctly
Oh I’ve already said about other games doing marketplaces and this better with less resources on these forums
Cmon Asobo we know it’s possible and doable and with the streaming everything idea there’s absolutely no reason for us to not have perfect model matching and liveries being sent from the servers
This even includes weights and cargo and all those things too
Look, after over 416 likes, 702 votes, and 41.4k views, the developers still don’t care about this. Clearly this forum is doing nothing, but surely there is some other way to request this?? It is just straight up terrible on their part that they aren’t listening to what the…
Players are requesting
If anyone has any ideas, feel free to mention them!
While this is a great idea, I doubt the developers will implement this at all. The lack of participation from Microsoft/Asobo in this huge forum is disappointing.
One of the biggest complaints I have heard and continue to experience. We run large group flights 3x per week and have for years and it is THE BIGGEST immersion killer to have a generic GA plane hovering around like a Harrier when that player simply selected a helo purchased from marketplace. It seems to me that people would buy more marketplace content if people could actually SEE them. This would undoubtedly fatten the already girthy wallets at MS. Shocks me that it hasn’t been done long before now.
I think people would buy more planes because of the show off factor…
How about, since we’re already streaming airplanes that we own from the 24 marketplace, why not stream models we DON’T own from the marketplace solely to show in sim? (so not to fly, but show the model of in sim)
seems like they don t care , this topic is active from 2020 era. 3 4 years ![]()
msfs-2024 is in the tags so….
Yes but so is 2020 so any solution applies to both.
Nothing wrong with that.
Although streaming content other than map data isn’t supported in 2020, hopefully this will spark some ideas at Asobo to think outside of the box. The tech is there, just a matter of making it secure. And the thread is not locked yet, so not rejected
If it can be used for 20 AND 24, it’s a bonus!
That’s not quite right because the information about other users aircraft in multiplayer is streamed to you also in both sims. All that’s required in addition to that is much better model and livery matching data to be sent and obviously a big improvement in the way that data is used in the model matching implementation on the client side.
