CAUCASUS CRUISE
This week we will make our way from Georgia to Russia, flying through open areas,
lush green valleys and over glaciers at high altitude. During this flight clouds
are out to get you and your aircraft’s Pitot Heat is your best friend. However
it will do little to keep your airframe from icing up so make sure to steer clear
of clouds. We will reach density altitudes of up to 16.000 ft in some spots,
it’s best to pack a warm jacket and some hot coffee. The runways are not extremely
short this time, this trip is all about the scenery.
The theory section at the end this time consists of closely related topics that
happen to ruin the day for many unsuspecting pilots. If you want to know why you
might reach your aircraft’s 12.000 ft service ceiling even at 6.000 ft above sea
level take a look at that section.
