Multiplayer: Players disappearing or not visible at all

Did a test today and it seemed better when really close. We couldn’t get that close before. However we still got the random appearing / disappearing. Not sure if it’s server/connection related but it being so random is still a big issue.

That is been broken for a while , with some aircrafts actually mirroring animations of the group leader’s aircraft in exterior view , while some other aircrafts most animations works good in mp , with the exclusion of the gears … Asobo is not in a hurry to fix mp , planned for 2022 , so we might have to wait a whole year for the fix … Perhaps around the 2 year anniversary … ? … :frowning:

I did the test during flight and at ground, its look better but not sure about that.
Random disappearing.

Thank you very much for bringing the topic up in the latest Q&A. Unfortunately, the answer was quite diffuse and I did not get the impression that the devs are aware of this particular problem. In contrast to that, I saw that you have a clear picture of what the problem is (you mentioned the Thunderflies as an example of who is affected). Maybe you could clear up the topic with the devs internally?

The thread is tagged as “need-your-help”, but I’m not sure how we can help here any further…? It seems to be something that everyone is affected by, not some super-special, difficult to reproduce issue.

I took part in a group flight of about 50 people at 16:00Z on Nov. 20, but I didn’t see anything that was getting better.
As usual, the other plane disappears while approaching the other plane.
Some people have commented that SU7 has made improvements, but I felt nothing had improved.

I understand that it is not possible to display all planes (connected to the same regional server) for performance reasons, but I would like to see 50 or 100 planes, or whatever performance allows, displayed in order of proximity to my plane.

This may be difficult as well, as I would need to keep updating the distance-ordered list for each plane.
If that’s the case, I’d like to see a group flight implemented that allows up to 100 people (the number of people is an example) to participate. This is a group flight that you can join by entering the same group code, and only the members of that group will always be visible.

That is the way it is implemented, but obviously, there is some bug in it. And to make this clear: this is not a problem excusively with many planes in close proximity! It also happens, when there are only one or two planes nearby. And also when the other person is in the same group. In fact, as has been pointed out now several times, it seems to affect primarily planes closeby, while the ones that are far away stay there all the time (you can only see that when you have activated the nameplates).

The important thing in this paragraph is that I want them to be displayed in the closest order from my plane.
When there are hundreds of planes within sighting distance, I don’t want all of them to be displayed. I think that’s impossible.

However, it would also be difficult for the server side to keep updating in real-time the list of planes in closest order to each player’s plane.

i lose everyone thats on screen when it happens to me. ill be flying at KORD with a bunch of people and then poof, everyone is gone. then some random minutes later, they’re back. i only bought this for the multiplayer functionality and im not impressed.

I decided to take the F18 out and tail some airline pilots with dodgy name tags, on most occasions the plane would disappear after it had just become visible. Only on one occasion was I able to fly along side an airliner (around 100m) without it disappearing, most definitely not fixed.

The team deployed a server-side fix that should help alleviate the issue of other planes disappearing in multiplayer mode. We would appreciate it if people could report their feedback in this thread. Has this fix improved the multiplayer experience for you?

Can confirm on my end as well, did not see anyone disappear. Was able to fly around with others no problem. Only tested for about 15-20 min, but no issues during that time.

Thanks for getting this mitigated (or potentially even solved) MSFS team.

Won’t get a chance to test this out until this evening, but this is massive news if it has been fixed. Thanks Seedy for the update.

I was with a my friend for about 40 minutes on the Asia server, and we never lost him.

-Leaving Haneda and traveling around Tokyo.
-Passing through the northern part of the Izu Peninsula near Mt.
-Traveled directly to Centrair.

Both the aircraft that flew with me and the other aircraft no longer disappear unnaturally, so the problem discussed here seems to have been solved.

Tested last night and much better, aircraft locations are also much more accurate now, particularly noticeable during vertical manoeuvres such as loops. Probably the best its ever been.

We did notice some times where aircraft would jump back 100 feet however they immediately returned to correct location in formation.

The landing gear/flaps/spoilers/etc animations are still not working after takeoff (appear correctly on ground)

So still some improvements to do but much more flyable than before

Hello,

I flew with 6 friends in close formation last night. The server performance has vastly improved. We did not suffer any disappearing problems. We flew over big cities in Europe and the US as stress tests. We also used third party aircraft and had a mix of various addons active. These seemed have no effect on server performance.

We did notice that aircraft sometimes jumped forward and then back without disappearing but the consensus amongst the team was that these issues were at our end maybe caused by internet connection drops outs/ pack loss etc.

We’ll keep flying and let you know.

I can confirm I can now escort airliner pilots with ‘dodgy’ name tags down to the ground to be arrested for crimes against MSFS in my F18! Definitely fixed at this point in time :+1:
