The performance increase very noticeable but it came at a cost (for me at least).
Is trading performance for stability a good idea ?
Msfs is now crashing every 45 to 60 minutes when it did not, my friends and I noticed big freezes that wouldn’t occur before and landing challenges are having issues. But overall despite the few problems the performance improvement is amazing and I really like the new interface.

I’m having similar issues. CTD either when loading the flight or after a certain amount of time (20 mins ish?)
Also, some functionality in the FBW A320 has now gone or is buggy, most notably engaging selected altitude! Also things like the landing light switches, strobe light, no smoking sign not working at all.
Some switches do not work unless you scroll them, when you used to be able to click.
Not a fan of the new tool tips, or the blue / yellow highlight of which knob you’re clicking?!
Other bugs as well, again only noticed on the FBW A320neo, throttle gauge on the external view cam doesn’t work. Also, instrument widgets on this view are much smaller and harder to read now.
Also, don’t know if anyone has had this but I notice when I input my callsign, tail number, flight number etc in the main menu, the text just disappears after I’ve typed it?
Other than that, I’d have to echo what @TomSarh said, performance updates are IMMEDIATELY noticeable and very impressive. Frame rates have drastically improved, and even managed 4K over London, which was stunning!
Same here, multiple in menu freezes.. game locks up during flight loads.. game freezes for 10 to 20 seconds during a flight. Finally a new flight loads half way and gets stuck. Shows the process in task manager is not responding. This is even after the routine 10 to 15 step rigorous troubleshooting by excluding one problem at a time and reboots/ updates etc. Very buggy and unplayable for me at the moment.
Same for me too. Way to much CTDs on loading and in flight, also game freezes sometimes.
Unplayable. ![]()
Performance is great.
Have you updated the FBW to the last DEV version (be sure to NOT use “stable” version)? That’s the only one compatible to SU5
I continue to have good luck on update days by throttling back download speed and accepting longer times. I use a home wifi repeater to my corner of the house. Yesterday’s package took 7 hours but I was off doing other things so I didn’t care.
This means it’s working! https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/-pd8AMCDbdM
Before the update, I never had CTD’s. Since the update I’ve had at least ten and that’s only on the first day! Before the udpate, I had a Longitude model, with the two mods from Working Title Group and Dakfly, that worked fine, climbed to altitude at realistic speeds and climb rates, had a working autopilot and pretty much was perfect. Now it’s a bugged out mess. Before the udpate, I had very slow frame rates despite having a 3080 Ti video card, an i9-9900 processor and a very fast monitor and despite not running things in ultra mode. Now, I have very fast frame rates and very nice looking graphics running it at high end settings but I have a model which will not maintain speed or climb to altitude unless it’s set at about 400 feet a minute climb rate at very low speeds. Having visual acuity improvements at the expense of everything else being horrible in relation is not the way to go. I’m going to try a few more changes/updates/removals and reinstallations and see if there’s any improvement in the model.
Update: Latest Dev version of FBW A320neo did solve the switch issue (thanks @Raniel3), however it was still unplayable as the autopilot just didn’t work at all - AP1/2 wouldn’t even turn on, just makes the AP off sound every time you click them.
The blue / yellow highlight thing, as well as the inability to pull knobs out, i.e. std pressure, manual hdg, alt etc was solved by changing the interface setting from ‘lock’ to ‘legacy’, which i think is a new thing they’ve brought in to be more xbox friendly, but not so good for mouse users like me.
But yeah, remains very buggy, for instance, put my throttle in idle position and it switches to reverse, rev gauge in external view still not working. Not even got properly into a flight yet to experience any of the alt / pressure model issues others have had
What throttle are you using? I use Saitech, If same, you may need to go into fbw EFB flight pad and calibrate throttles. Recent up date has made that a lot easier. In mine I have to set the throttle up from the std idle spot up to the next line for idle. reversers work then when pulled back. Bit hard to explain but hope this might get you started?
I have an older system, 1060 GPU and get around 35 FPS with most settings on high or above. Have several hundred hours in A320 now, only complaint is flight plans and mcdu not matching. I kill ATC for most airline flights currently. Use Navigraph and simbrief. Well worth the time to learn these I believe.
I’m having sounds problems with the engines. All the other sounds are fine. No CTD, no pauses or freezing. My load time has increase somewhat.
Crazy Stuff!!
