Could you imagine if ,lets say Ford or GM made a car that looked really good and you bought one. when you picked it up and paid for it, well the car had no reverse, “well ya that will be in a update soon” or the power windows dont really work that good but it will be fixed with a update soon maybe 1 to 2 years. Brakes and steering a little twitchy but dont worry, it’s Shiny!
What do you think would you buy it ? Or better yet, the manufacture would never sell anything.
Well us the paid customer bought something that should never have been released.
Just added my vote, though I dont know what good it will do, and it hardly feels a strong enough gesture. It is unconscionable that through the entire development process someone didn’t point out that a flight sim limited to single monitor/view is an archaic paradigm, a huge step back.
I was actually shocked when I connected a second monitor, fully expecting to get a out-the-windsheild view on one, full screen instrument panel on the other. I honestly couldn’t even believe that even that much was not possible. I never imagined that, almost a decade after the last iteration, they would regress so far.
Yes the visuals ARE lovely, unprecedentedly so, but if I cant fly with a full monitors worth of outside view, its a waste.
Unbelievable that it still can’t support multi screen. I just waited to buy a new computer to be able to play
… it’s useless!!!
I spent some time with MSFS 2020 and the improved scenery over x-plane is nice, although for real visibility simulation I’m not sure it makes that much difference. HOWEVER, regressing from three screens to one destroys realism significantly. It is very difficult and unrealistic to fly a simple pattern and transition properly without the side monitors. I would have thought that the Asobo developers would know this immediately if they had any piloting experience. I have put MSFS2020 aside completely and gone back to using x-plane exclusively. i’ll check back occasionally to see if multimonitor support has been added.
I can’t say it any better than so many of you already have. I just want to add that there are also still autopilot, trim etc. bugs that should NEVER have existed in a sim planned and tested for this long. These are not new functions- they worked quite well over a decade ago and work quite well in the current competing flight sims. It is inexcusable to have these bugs exist, even some still after all the updates!
The comments about catering to gamers are right on. We should have seen it coming- all the hype and trailers were about eye candy, no panels or flight-specific features…just eye candy. I LOVE the eye candy, the scenery…amazing! But we have it already- enough with the world updates- just fix this sim and deliver what you promised!
I’m Going back to xplain if triple monitor support is not available in 1 month! This have to be fix
…
Triple monitor is indeed a significant omission. I find it even more egregious that they cant even do a simple two-monitor: that of outside view on one, 2D instrument panel on the other (or “flat” view of the 3D instrument panel).
I did a video here it is at YouTube. Too many just dont understand how the view is distorted compared with other sims.
enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f8Pd_TgDLI
Thank you for making the video
on youtube people need to know how important its multiple displays support in any flight simulator. Well, I don’t know if this is a real sim now? Thank you again.
Thank you sincerely for the video.
Please add the ability to adjust the viewing angles for 3 monitors and 4 monitors as it was in X-Plane. It is very necessary for the completeness to feel the effect of presence.
Is in the works. But will take a while according to the roadmap
Imagine having the exterior on a projector (or 3) and having your instruments on a separate display. The externals on FS 2020 are impressive.
I think multi monitor will come at he same time as VR on 12/23. Asobo said they had a surprise for the end of the year and I am betting that multi monitor is that. If they manage to do VR then unless I am over simplifying multi monitor should be fairly straightforward. Asobo just did not want to commit formally to a date and 2021-2022 doesn’t make sense.
We can always hope
Dear Customers,
Due to the Pandemic we are unable to meet our contractual obligations with MS to further develop the game. So as of xx/xx/xxxx we will be discontinuing development of MSFS 2020.
SURPISE!!!
-Humor-
I have gotten used to just having one monitor (for now). But, if we had the ability to remove the pillars from the windshields so we could have a better view then that could help us wait for true triple support, done correctly.
Multi monitor support is not as trivial as it might sound like. In fact, VR is often quite simple, since the hardware is known and standardized, the APIs and libraries are there ready to be used.
The only proper way to do multi monitor support is the way Laminar Research did with X-Plane. Those guys really did everything as it should be done: ability to spawn an arbitrary number of viewports, which can be independently adjusted in 7 degrees of freedom: x, y, z, rotation, yaw, tilt and FOV. This way the screens can be of any size, at any angle, distance or height.
I hope that Asobo can find a much better way of doing multi monitor support than the way that Laminar Research did it. Their method just resulted (as the devs acknowledged in one of their blogs) in massive performance tanking.
I don’t know about that. I’ve been quite happy with the performance, especially with the latest Vulkan rendering engine. I run with triple 27" monitors of 1920x1080 each, with an older 1070 GTX card. I get only a moderate drop in FPS.
