My experience with the Rift S and VR

Hey Guys,

Well I have been flying VR Flight sims since FSX with the “flyinside” software. I have waited for quite a long while to finally be able to fly VR in FS2020. in fact I built this rig just to be able to fly VR in FS2020. Now I know its not the fastest parts, but it was what I could afford.

I9-10850K CPU
64GB DDR4 3600 RAM
1TB NVMe SSD
RTX3090 FE
1000W PS
Oculus Rift S

After installing the lastest Oculus software, I then had to turn on the beta version… Then you must reboot in order for it to download the lastest beta version which is 24 (If not, it just hangs on pending download). After the new 24 version is installed you will see the new folder in the registry instead of just Vulcan. (I never had to change anything in the registry like some did)

Now at this point you need to have the oculus software running in the background. Then launch FS2020…

VERY IMPORTANT…

DO NOT GO INTO THE VR YET. You MUST set up your bindings for the VR. (Camera center, toggle toolbar, etc) I used the “Spacebar” for center, “Shift” for the toolbar. Then save.

Now when you go into VR it will not look very good because the guys and gals at Microsoft dialed down the graphics so it would be smoother for less powerful PC’s. Mine is pretty decent so I started turning up the settings and this is what I am running.

These are producing smooth flight.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

Thanks guys

Same setup what PD are you running on the headset . ASW on or off ASW seems broke to me having to disable the same P3d V5. Locked frames or unlimited.

I turned ASW off.
