In a normal flight, my King Air is out of control. Yawing, banking, and pitching up and down like crazy. I’ve tried customizing of the joystick in the control options and I just can’t make it any better.
Even with the auto pilot engaged, it is constantly banking and recovering like a nervous nelly.
The King Air in the Activity/Landing challenges flies like a dream.
There are several stock airplanes that will not behave but there are a few that are fine.
What am I missing??
Thanks.
It’s the same King Air model being used in both Custom Flights and any Bush Trips/Landing Challenges.
Easy Check: Are you on Modern Flight Model? You should be, but double-check.
When checking your controller’s stability using Windows Game Controller App, does it show any “noise” in the axes, which would be an inability to show a steady green bar or a centered dot?
If so, start a Custom Flight where it’s Clear Skies and No Wind. You can baseline your controller once you’re airborne and established straight and level (as best as you can). It may be you need to calibrate your controller and apply some biases or deadzone.
If AP is unstable even in the above, something is applying inputs. Double check all your controller bindings and make sure you don’t have anything dual-assigned to the same function, especially if it has to do with control surfaces (including trim) or power management.
Thanks, CasualClick.
It was all about the Modern/Legacy option. I switched to Modern and all my troubles went away.
I know I should have figured this out on my own but I guess I’m just getting a little old (73).
You saved me from myself.
I would have replied to you earlier but I was busy flying all the planes.
Great Stuff!!
Glad to hear you’re all set!
